Trouble Running Armagetron on gentoo Linux

Post by Dreforian »

I'm new, both to the forums and to linux, so pretty please bare with me.

just installed the latest Sabayon linux (based off gentoo) and finally somehow managed to install armagetron using gentoo's portage program. problem is is that armagetron wont run at all. I click, it shows the program trying to launch on the bottom bar, then just dissapears. no error message or anything. Is there anything more I need to get to be able to run the game properly? is there any way to get info telling me what is failing when the game doesnt run? Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

if this is all answered somewhere feel free to beat me or preferably point me in the right direction.

Hmmm. You'll need to start it in a terminal then and try to run it, copy ad paste the output here. :)

Damn, you're quick. I go to the forums, open any threads of interest in tabs, and then make my way to this one not long after. But by the time I hit reply, you've already got a few posts knocked out.

Did you do ldconfig? (I know, emerge does it automatically, but it shouldn't hurt) You might try reinstalling arma after getting it's dependency. I don't know enough about your specific distribution, just that in regular Gentoo I usually have to enable some use flag and re-emerge a package when I screwed up a dependency.
