Hi Heinz, that would be great. You can get a sourceforge account at http://www.sourceforge.net or we'll just send you what we need translated and you can send it back to us through e-mail.Heinz wrote:Hi
a nice project.
If there need some help to translate text in the second (or is it the first) language german im ready for it.
... and no, i have no sourceforge account
Armagetron Advanced!
I added you on sourceforge.netklax wrote:OK. I've compiled succesfully armagetron advance from cvs in linux. Wow, what a HUD!!
My sourceforge account is klaxnek. I've also made my email visible.
Marrow: Is there a post in this forum explaining the new features expected and bugs solved in armagetron advance? I can't find it...

I'm really easy on peoples spelling mistakes and stuff... hey look at mine (I know how to speel i just dont care for the backspace key lol)
but I have a pet peeve and that is (due to me being a Physicist), is units. Please dont take this as something personal tank but:
small b = bit
big B = byte
it can be misleading when writting to technical people if one uses mb when one meant MB.
good luck with the compilling iceman

But, mb is supposed to be only used in data transfer, so when you are referring to size mb is ok. "I'm downloading 14mb over my 10MB connection." That is technically inaccurate. It should be "I'm downloading 14MB over my 10mb connection." That is correct. However, still saying "I'm downloading 14mb over my 10mb connection." is ok because, well, it is.

nup its not, mb is never going to be megabyte. Full stop.Tank Program wrote:But, mb is supposed to be only used in data transfer, so when you are referring to size mb is ok. Technical things like this aint cuase of feelings the are defined.
b is defined as bit
B is define as byte

We will just have to agree to disagree. mb for me is wrong, and i would mark you wrong in an exam.... I never got full marks in a test because something could be interpretded as OK. Its just wrong.

Afaik, people in the warez scene use Mbit and people in the industry use Kbps.
Ex.: T1 = 1.54 Kbps connection = 12.32 Mbit connection
I'm assuming Tank is heavily into warez.
As far as the little 'b' and big 'B' - I'll let you two duke it out.
EDIT: pop into your local #warez-oasis or whatever your local warez channel is and you'll see lame ads seeking 100Mbit for dump, contact 1337mofo or any op/+ - anyway, you know what i mean

About bandwidth units
to say 12 Mbit is also wrong ... the correct units is Mb/s or Mbps or Mbit/s etc.You will often see bandwidth and transfer speed quoted in two different units: kilobits per second, abbreviated kbps or Kb/s, and kilobytes per second, abbreviated KB/s. The difference between the two units is the number of bits in a byte, which is 8. The small 'b' stands for bits, and the big 'B' stands for bytes. Transfer speeds are often shown in KB/s, and connect speeds are usually quoted in Kb/s.
So, for instance, if a progress dialog for a modem shows you a download speed of 4.3 KB/s, it is the same as 34.4 Kb/s. If a progress dialog for a cable modem shows you a transfer speed of 100 KB/s, it is the same as 800 Kb/s.
We display our measured transfer speeds in Kb/s, to make them easier to compare with your rated line speed.
and T1 speed is 1.536 Mbps not 1.536 kbps if it where 1.54 Kb/s it would be 35 or so times slower than a 56 Kb Modem.
Units, cant live with them, cant live w/o them

Its like saying my car can go 170 Miles rather than 170 Miles/hour etc.
