Armagetron Forums: SERVER!!!

Post by Tank Program »

Yes, that's right, we now have our very own server :). The name, suprisingly enough, is armagetron forums: guru3.sytes.net. Just so you know it is very similar to Armagoshdarn, but there are obvious differences. A) There is a brake. B) You lose 1 point when you die. C) You probably go faster, cycle_speed wise. D) Your walls never end, there is no blast radius, and no wall delay. E) Other little things maybe, like a smaller/bigger grid hard to tell. Hope people enjoy it as a goshdarn alternative, when it's kindof laggy out. (Especially for european goshdarners.) Plus, goshdarn is a good style of play, I jsut made it more like the older versions of Armagetron :).

So the similarities are ...

You control a lightcycle,
On a grid urrounded by walls,
Can only turn at right angles,
And speed up by driving in close proximity to other users walls?

Just trying to be humorous. =) The new server sounds interesting.
Variety can be a good thing now and again. Good luck with the server.

*dreams/hopes the "powers-that-be" release "quantum-teleportation-of-information technology based on double pairing of quarks" for public consumption.... SOON*

i really like that they turn only at 90 degrees, i suspect that the bikes either consist of

a "burst-teleportation-nano-assembler-disassembler" two would be needed to avoid having to "self-burst-teleportate" (would be too tricky to assemble/disassemble the assembler-disassembler lol), so you'ld basically have a bike consisting of two parts even though it might not show...

or

a "quantum-double-pairing-teleportator* which in effect would mean you're driving two pairs of bikes at once, all existing in the same place, and that the 90-degrees is made by first teleportating the first instance of the bike and then the second. this would be extremely fast, much faster than the solution above

oh shit i just realized i'm a phucking raving loonie :o and that this is just a game

Don't worry, if you ever forget that fact again _WE_ will be here to remind you.

without the wall length and with brakes it doesnt look like goshdarn at all :S

You lose 1 point when you die.
if you gain 1 point when coredumping someone doesnt this make it really hard to get 10 points to win a match? or isnt that the case? (which would make the server totally not like goshdarn :D)

You get two points when you core dump... I wonder how many you have to get to win though? I should double check that I think...
