i am actually kinda upset about this (ww being taken off the brackets).
im not upset at deso or tit, im upset at spook because we were actually going to play in this and he did not discuss with any other people in the clan. + someone who just quit was allowed to take our clan team off of a tournament (again not the organizers fault). Had i known we were going to be taken off, I wouldve asked another leader to be chosen (which it looks like it was) and for us to still play. we had enough players.

I was a member of the opt, but wasn’t playing, decided by: (who really knows?). It looked like more teams had enough free players to build another unsigned team. But it’s happening in the ladle sometimes too. Anyway, greets to them, who made it possible. It was much more fun than ladle is in my eyes. I hope it will get a regular competition.

it's hard to organize this and there was some confusion with the servers and their names...but i think most people had fun and would take part again. before someone starts a shitstorm here....

Yeah. It was hard to tell who was supposed to play where, double elimination does that. The fact that the individual matches were over so quickly didn't help to keep track. What the brackets of future tournaments of this kind need, IMHO, are two things:
1. decoupling of matches and servers. Each match needs an ID, like 'game 12', and it should be clear that 'game 17' is the game where the winner of 'game 12' and the loser of 'game 9' meet. Then you assign those games to servers. Of course, the brackets should display both the server name and the match ID. And, if possible, the match IDs should be made very explicit to the players, so when someone comes and asks where he plays next, you ask him which game he played last and what the result was, then you can look it up without first figuring out which round it was and where when all they know is 'we lost against CT'.
2. brackets that avoid switching servers. Half the teams should be able to stay where they are in every step. Mixing servers up equalizes potential problems, but also creates bottlenecks.

Things seemed to have gone rather well regardless, so I'm not complaining and I don't think anyone will start a shitstorm against Desolate.

Edit, recordings so far:
final_g5_1.aarec

Semis, I think, sorted by server. I was basically recording blindly and without a clue at that point.
semi_andsoon_liv.aarec
semi_andsoon_liv_2.aarec
semi_andsoon_liv_3.aarec
semi_andsoon_usa.aarec

Various earlier matches:
3b_open_vs_unk.aarec
l1_pru_vs_una.aarec
opening_tx_vs_noobs.aarec
second_tx_vs_open.aarec

Two matches in one recording, because I missed the chance to quit and restart (CT vs pRu and CT vs uNk):
second_ct_vs_pru_third_ct_vs_unk.aarec

I think it was organized the best possible given the situation. What should be done next is with the servers. Use the same servers for the winners bracket and the same servers for the losers bracket to that the winners' server don't rely on the losers' servers vise versa.

The problem was basically organizing 1-2 hours before it began, and in the case of best of 1 vs. best of 3, during the first round. If everyone's interested in another one, I think I might take out 2v2 conq and replace size 2 holes with 0.75 and get the rules and servers set before the day of the tournament. Sorry for all the confusion.
