weekly play

Post by 2020 »

a month is tooooooo long to wait

i think we have enough players to make sure there's an event happening every week
whether we all take part in them
is another matter

so the ladle/bowl for all of us is one
the league which involves the largest teams/clans is another
and an inter-continental challenge between a couple of teams is a third

there may only be as few as 8v8 in the inter-continental
unless a second team can be fielded from both continents

and yes
8v8 for some competitions
please :)

How about reinventing Spoon somehow? I also thought about sth like Masters-series, but it'd be closed competition.
Organised matches #3 maybe?

+1 for 8v8 :)

yes, but please make it earlier. i would like 8vs8s. I think Friday 4-6 pm GMT would work for most people in the world. I don't like the rest of the weekend because of other tourneys and clanwars.

No weekly admining of anything of ladle scale here for me. It just kills an entire evening, which is OK on a monthly basis, but not once per week. I'll happily grant team captains access, though.

i just wanted to share some news from Destiny's development of an alternative choice for the main website, because it does pertain to this subject. We all agreed that a CMS (Content Management System) was really needed. At first she wanted to use the same one that the school system she teaches at uses, since she is already familiar with it. I am also wanting to setup a CMS for a website for TheServerPham. Upon review by Manta and I, we concluded that Joomla would be a far superior solution. So last night, I was randomly surfing through the Joomla site to get an idea of its full potential. I did a search of the plugins for Joomla and found a free League Management extension. It is very new, but i found a positive review of it.
This CMS will also be used by Destiny to develop an actual website for Wild West. This plugin, if it works, could be just the trick to make Wild West Tourneys easier managed. And obviously, it could work for the creation of a "Tronic League". So, the redesign of the Main Armagetron Website could possibly include a Tournament Management System! It could also pave the way for easy duplication by others who want to create Tourneys for Armagetron. I will keep you guys updated with things as they are discovered. Destiny will be gone this week to attend a conference that her school system is sending her to. However, Zurd, Manta, and myself will be doing some "behind the scenes" things to get things prepared for Destiny when she returns. Zurd is the person doing much of the actual development work on the website with Destiny providing artistic direction and some coding as well. Manta is setting up the actual Joomla installation that we are using as a prototype to show you. Ultimately, Wild West will use their Joomla installation for a Wild West website. I am also creating a Joomla installation for my own use and providing ideas and some help to the crew working on the prototype of the new Main Website.
Armagetron: It's a video game that people should just play and enjoy :)

i was playing 8v8 years ago

anyhow
it's not about enforcing 6v6 or 8v8 absolutely
but to have different events with different numbers of players etc
(i've heard some people say 5 rubber is too high...)

I agree. I'd hate to see all competitions going 6vs6...

what about another tourney something new, something different or something ancient to be played monthly 2 weeks separated from the (b)ladle (every 3rd sunday of month). We don't need all tourney's to mirror one.
