The Use of Brakes.

I never mind admitting that I use brakes. The way I see it, if brakes were made available on the server then they were meant to be a part of the overall strategy. They aren't just there for people to complain about. =) Plus, in 'goshdarn anyway, the effectiveness of brakes is negligible. They are only good to slow you down a small bit so you might have a better chance at making a corner.

Should you yourself use brakes? That is your prerogative. Just don't complain when somebody else does, as it is also your prerogative to choose to play on a server that doesn't allow them.

While I am not against brakes, they are useless for me. I never find myself in situations where brakes would be helpful. The only time I need to slow down is inside of a tight area, and then it's still rarely an issue because I can outgrind most people (War Monkey and some select others excluded) and escape, so I'm rarely trapped.

For going up against those with superior grinds, I just try to make sure I don't get trapped. If I do get trapped, I play the waiting game and make the little zig zags until the wall length expires and I can escape. I guess using brakes doesn't cross my mind.

I play the person, not the circumstance. You have to know a person's style. I change my play to match who I'm playing. But, brakes are never involved in this change.

i use em in corners and mazes because then I have a shitty video card and a lot of sliding going on like u wouldn't belive when I am in a tite area. But as you all know, I get into these situtions all the time. Don't know if a new vid card will change this, we'll see eventually, I hope.

Elite players don't use them (I'm the one trapped in marrow's mazes) but they and usually their systems are good enough not to bother with them. As far as I am concerned, if the capability is there and you need it, why not?

i don't use brakes as they impede on my playing (i brake by turning, but that's different), if others want to use them i don't mind.

it can be dangerous to rely on brakes

i only use brakes occassionaly when im about to do a corner grind, otherwise i don't use them
personally i hate ppl that use brakes just so that they can slow down and make a tight 180 on you when your against the wall, i believe you should be able to do that without brakes and if you can't well then practice and don't be a puss
if you use them in a maze i don't care as much, but thats about the only place i can see brakes to be useful, but then i hate mazes so for me there is almost no reason for anyone to use brakes

yep, and i know the good players turn to brake, so that's why i spent a lot of time practicing that (well, no actually i was really just trying to lag-bomb goshdarn for fun... busted

), so the bottom line for me is, have all the tools ready and polished for when you need them.

a macho man might say "brakes are for wussies", but hey, macho men need love to, deep down...

Hell, I don't even brake on the road, i just weave my car back and forth a lot untill it stops at a red light.

because in some places u don't have brakes you have turbo, so its not a built in thing, its something that the person who makes the server decides
so there are some servers where there are no brakes or turbo
