New icon file

Post by edd »

Not sure who to send this to, but I thought we could use a PC version of the Icon I made for the apple version.

What do you think?

Well, I tell you this much: I think the Mac icon is a beauty. :) And it's in my color to boot, heh.

Heh, ironically someone was supposed to ask you for this awhile back.

Can we get the icon in these resolutions? All as .png.

16x16
32x32
48x48
64x64
128x128

I think you've already rendered them in each of these at various points in the past. They're needed as .pngs for linux. Windows, of course, will take the first 4 in the list in an .ico file, with Windows XP being the only one that supports 64x64. Anyway, the current Linux icon was just the same icon you made for mac, but I used the GIMP to resize it, so the smaller versions aren't very pretty.

I have a neat program that will take .pngs, mix them together and make a windows icon file. So I'm personally interested in using the .pngs to build the windows icon file, so that in the future we only need to update the pngs and rebuild the icon file from them. I dont know that anybody bit on this one, though.

I think it'd look pretty snazzy for a new icon. And it would sort of match the new startup screen too.

edd's may be optimized differently so my suggestion is to pick your poison as far as the 2 versions if that actually comes about (me starts to ramble). Well anythings better then the one in the current windows version , no offence to whomever made it. It just doesnt scream armagetron or tron or anything, in fact at first glance its hard to tell what the icon actually is.

new icons

Thanks Iceman. I have also rendered the icon in the same 'flat' style as the splash screen, just incase people prefere it. However I have no preference.

Just for those who don't know, I think the current icon comes from the original TRON arcade game.

your_mom maybe your too young to have seen the original 1984 tron arcade game (I used to play a lot  ) in which the light cycles were just one of the 4 game levels

Lucifer, could you handle this? I don't have this nice conversion program. I don't care much which version you take, the smoothly shaded ones look better, but the others fit better to the title screen.
