Wall Jumping

Post by Self_Destructo »

I have a big problem with wall jumping on my server. To describe: You turn down a wall, and all of a sudden you switch sides. Most of the time this happens during double binding a wall and slingshots.

Also, I've noticed that every once in a while that people go outside the arena walls. It's probably related to the above problem.

If God wanted you to run a server, he'd have made it work right.

Um, seriously though, what version is your server running? This sounds like the old bounce bug and rip bug, which would mean you're running pre-0.2.7.1 and should upgrade.

Try one of the betas yet? There was a bug in 0.2.7.1 where you could slip through the walls...

Yeah, I liked it and it ran much smoother, but user demand made me go back because some of them had problems getting on the server.

Yes, passing through walls was a problem in 0.2.7.1 (and still is to some extent), but the bounce bug should not happen there any more, and your description sounds like it. Can you show some screenshots or recordings so we know what it looks like?

And of course, I'd like to hear details on the connection difficulty complaints. That would be a bug that definitely should not happen.

Hrm, I'll try to get some recordings, and the connection stuff had something to do with maps and clients using older versions.

Maybe you set the map file to something that is not in the resource repository, but works for you? Of course, if the map you selected was included in one of the distributions one time, that would be our fault.
(The default map's name changed from beta1 to beta2, that may be the reason, something may have gone wrong in the transition.)
