With the recent changes to the forums, I've noticed that when I type "for" into my browser to prompt the autocomplete for forums.armagetronad.net, it no longer works. Instead, I must manually add the "3" into the URL in order to navigate correctly. I've been thinking the forums were down every time I tried to use my desktop and it wasn't until I accidentally opened my tablet browser and the forums loaded right up that I caught the mistake.
Is there any way to fix the redirect so that "forums.armagetronad.net" works again?
Of course, I could shut up and deal with it, but I figured I'd ask. Perhaps some other people have experienced similar difficulties, perhaps not.

Re: Slight inconvenience
What browser do you use? I use FireFox and keep a bookmark with forums3, and I allow FF to search my bookmarks when typing in the URL bar. This way, the correct address always shows up.
The redirection you are talking about is probably due to your ISP's DNS cache, not something to do with the forums.

Re: Slight inconvenience
Ok, my last response got eaten by the internet and my shitty internet connection. Now I'm using my phone's wifi hotspot (called Brian, because we've named all of our devices after Monty Python things).
Anyway....
Z-man is currently testing new configurations that'll hopefully harden the forums. He may be using the forums.armagetronad.net dns entry to do that (last I heard he was using forums.aa.net, but they could be linked).
If that's the case, just be patient, and we'll have this all sorted out soonish. If not, then it's quite coincidental.
(That reminds me, I have a config to test on my vps)

Re: Slight inconvenience
I use chrome. The other option does come up (I also have the proper link bookmarked) but usually not as the default because I've always used forums.[] instead. I'll just remove forums.armagetronad.net from my history and I presume it will default to the bookmark.sinewav wrote:What browser do you use?
However, it looks like you may be correct about the forums not being the problem. My apartment internet doesn't redirect to forums3. My school-wide wifi does. So, interesting. I didn't even know about that.

I also use chrome and I don't have this problem. It still worked for me even when it was down, only, I was sent to a page that said "offline" instead.Ratchet wrote:I use chrome.sinewav wrote:What browser do you use?
I do the same as you for most sites too: fo - enter (forums), ya - enter (yahoo), so on...
