Question regarding Internet

Post by Gazelle »

Idk if anyone can assist me here, but as of the last 4 or 5 days i've been getting these horrible slides in all servers EU and US. As well as my internet dropping for about 45sec - 1 min. Its makin gaming unenjoyable cant play LoL or anything because of the fact that i get disconnected and tron, well with constant slides not really much anyone can do.

But i have the latest router and the best possible internet in the area and it usually is flawless..

I checked every running computer in the house and even did anti-virus on all of them too see if something was possibly up. Reset the router, everything i could think of.

I dont know what could be causing it, we had someone come out about 2 months ago, they replaced the router, and rewired some shit, and he said all is well should be running fine, it was... until now.

Idk if anyone has experienced shit like this before, i looked it up.. kinda unreliable information because lots of people have xfinity etc.. always going to be problems, most of them dont understand its on their end.

If anyone can give me some advice, would be much appreciated, thanks:)

Windows? Use perfmon.exe. Check "network". There you see all programs that use your connection.

I had the same sort of problem awhile back Gaz. My internet was like 6mb dl when it should have been 30, dced like every 15-30 minutes, replaced the router twice, replaced the modem twice, and had people from my isp come several times and still didn't work. We even moved the location of the modem several times. What eventually fixed it was someone who knew how to do their job.

Eventually we called and someone who actually knew what to do came and fixed our internet. He plugged some magical equipment into my coaxial port in the wall and said I had like a -3 signal or some shit. afterwards he fixed it I had a positive 11. He also went outside and did something with the cabling on the street. Also when our free internet upgrade didn't work for whatever reason he called in an override. The funny thing is this guy wasn't even a full time employee for my isp, just someone they called in when they didn't have enough people. Yet he did a better job than everyone else they sent that were full time employees.

My point is get someone that knows their shit and they should be able to fix your internet. Also make sure that the person repairing your internet doesn't leave until you've tried out the internet for yourself to make sure its stable.

Anyways that's what fixed it for me, he was like 5th or 6th person that came out to help us I believe, and though he fixed our internet he said the only thing he could do after what he had done was to drop new coaxial cable throughout our house.

I'm not sure if your isp or internet provider works the same for you gaz, but there's my experience.

When I have this problem, I call my isp, shout at them, ask the manager, ask money and ask them to fix it and they will sort things out themselves :)

Most of the time when this stuff happens it's not a problem at home. ISPs constantly rework their systems and they may be routing traffic differently pending an upgrade or something. The effects are as sudden as they are temporary. But if since it has been going on for a few days now, talk to your parents about it and try and convince them it's worth calling the ISP to have them take a look.

fr-ext is down, so most US internet traffic that needs EU access is routing through ireland. Ireland has a tiny exchange in comparison, there is a huge backlog.

Also, cable works in the pond.

Did Time Warner recently buy out your ISP?
