CTF BRAWL [ day of week? ]
So a while ago we had relatively many teams participating and it was all good, no one needed any changes. The real boost of playing teams was when scoring settings were changed which brought a lot of fun in ctf. Gradually amount of participating team decreased. Right now only several teams sign up and everyone knows what teams usually do it, but even they are having difficulties to find required amount of players. With this point I open a new Poll to decide day of week for brawl, either it's still Saturday or change it to Sunday. I feel free opening this because with a lot of teams participating it could be difficult to find an agreement but now it's time for it. All those participating teams and probably some other teams who find Sunday more suitable for them can make this small change to BRAWL and bring other people into this competition with a new fun.

Sundays are always better for most people.

as long as it doesn't collide with other sumo tournaments, sunday sounds better.Soul wrote:Sundays are always better for most people.

Sunday seems to be better for me too.

If the Australians are not playing, there is no need to keep it on Saturday. However, I think the lack of participation has more to do with CTF than the day of the week.

I agree with sine about the likely cause of the low participation. Nevertheless, if most would prefer it on Sundays, then there's no reason not to move it to Sundays.

Are you blind to the fact that we (and I include myself) have gone to great lengths to promote CTF and get people involved, yet the game still flounders? Some of this is general participation in Armagetron which is down in all areas (except Sumo), but it is more pronounced in CTF where even the Wild West server is having a hard time staying populated.Tru wrote:you are predictable ...
Maybe CTF could use some experimentation, not with the physics, but with the tournament? Think about mixing it up. We stole the name "Brawl" from Fortress Brawl, but maybe there is more to steal than just the name? Fort Brawl was a shift in dynamic at a time when Ladle was trying to pull itself together. The number of teams literally doubled in the months after Fort Brawl than before. This is not to say that Fort Brawl was the catalyst, but a lot of new relationships were forged there and pretty much everyone has fond memories of it.
And for those who don't want to dig into those threads, the basic idea was a general tournament sign-up and self-appointed captains would pick teams. This would be challenging in CTF because of the limited talent and small team sizes, but I'm sure there are enough smart people here to overcome any problems. Maybe even increase the team size, just to see what happens?
What have you got to loose?

I actually like sine.wav's idea of trying new things. Particularly, this:

I propose a we do something like this every once in a while (like maybe every 3rd Brawl) to maybe bring in more players who wouldn't play because they either did not feel like they were good enough to win against top teams or those who couldn't find enough players for a team for Brawl. And since this tourney would be less competitive, raise the max players per team to 5 and lower flags to 6, but keep the scores at 4 and 10 for the regular Brawls.sinewav wrote:...the basic idea was a general tournament sign-up and self-appointed captains would pick teams. The framework for any kind of variant, parallel tournament is there. It just needs someone to make a wiki page and a new configuration file for server admins to RINCLUDE.Tobe wrote:Those of you who are interested in this game mode, please do comment your ideas and suggestions.
Re: CTF BRAWL [ day of week? ]
if ctf implemented brakes id play....
Re: CTF BRAWL [ day of week? ]
Maybe one with a bit shorter/longer walls or a small turbo on the brake, that's what i can think of right now
