The Early Days of Creating Teams II

Post by Majination »

As far as scheduling tournaments and creating teams to play in them, I think it might go a long way toward making things run smoothly to figure out which players are (generally) available at what times of the day, and which days.

For example, I would _LOVE_ to play in a tournament, but am only available to play mornings from around 7:45 to 10:30 GMT-8. Obviously I could only be included in tournaments that ran within this time frame, and be included in a team that had members available at this time also.

That said, because of my schedule I am not a very good candidate for playing in a tournament, lol, but my point is that to put together teams (and tournaments) that mesh well you may need to narrow people down by availability and not just time zone.

It would be cool to have a tournament signup page where people could put down blocks of hours, on particular days, that they would be available. By looking at this, the people running the tournaments could see which times on what days would be best to have a tournament, contacting the people who are available. Team captains could also easily see what people would fit into their teams easily.

Utopian Dreams.

Edit: Sorry for not showing up for Saturdays tournament. I was out of town at a wedding. More than likely I wouldn't have been able to attend because of the time, too. =(

No, my team is full. Kaos is another player.

You have two options to participate:
1. Message either Tank Program or Seleucus and ask that they let you join one of their teams.
2. Form a team with 3 players on it and provide a server (on cable/dsl or something similar). This server doesn't necessarily have to be yours. It could belong to one of your teammates. Also, the server doesn't have to run 24/7, it just has to be available on the weekends for one or two games.

OK, if no one shows, I'll play for Marrow at a moments notice, however...

TEAM LOCO has been formed:

Algerion (Team Captain), eggcozy, thesap and me. There are aware of the details and should be making their presence known here shortly. I am also working on a team logo in photoshop.

if they show, which they have said they will, I will host a game on my pc for our individual games if we have a team to play. Otherwise I'll play on marrows team or, our team on marrow's server against whoever.

I could use some help in settings up the settings for match, not sure how I should set them up myself.

Great! You've been added. Welcome team. Unfortunately, I can't support having a team captain who isn't a member of the forums. So, I have elected you team captain. =) The reason is I have no idea how to contact or stay in touch with Algerion. If this changes, by all means he can be team captain.

Where did "Coliseum Cougars" come from? I wanted to take the cougars. Oh well, we're now the "Tron Tigers"

Also as to where I got the "Tigers" and "Cougars" from in my one ramblings about team names post, here, they come from the names of school teams near where I used to live. We had the "Culbreth Cougars" of Culbreth Middle School and I lived about a 10 minute walk from there. Then there were "The Chapel Hill Tigers" of Old Chapel Hill High. At least, it was called Old Chapel Hill High by the inhabitents of Chapel Hill, but the official name of the school is "Chapel Hill Highschool" so anyway... We're the "Tron Tigers"

When we play...

We should create a schedule for the next like 3 months or something and define it as a season, if you want me to do this I will just tell me...
