1/2 Court Fort (3v3, like "winner attacks")
Like most great ideas I have they occur as I'm falling asleep. So I got out of bed and quickly slapped together 1/2 Court Fort. Half court, like, when you are playing basketball and you don't have enough players for a good full court game. It's 3v3 on a slightly smaller grid with one zone. Lowest score defends. It's not onslaught because there are no respawns. And it's not quite "winner attacks," though a close match will certainly feel that way. 1/2 Court Fort is somewhere in-between.
There are 2 spec slots. By the time the server is full, you should really consider moving to a larger server for normal play. But this is a good time waster until then. The smaller grid and forced attack vs defense per team makes the play a little quicker and the action more concentrated.
Note: Other than the custom map, all I did was take the current Ladle.cfg and change a few settings. If something is wacky or you have a great idea to improve the game, let me know right away and I'll look into it.

I never posted the settings and this server has been down a long time, so I'm adding them here. Hopefully someone picks it up because there is a definite market for this.

I have a new version of 1/2 Court Fort. It utilizes map rotation to switch between offense and defense. This is directed at the leading team, so sometimes you defend or attack more often depending on the lead changes. The map rotation solves the KOTF problem where a team might defend or attack for most of the game (feels a little random). The map and spawn points are different than normal Fortress. The area around the zone is huge, so you can attack freely from all sides. Wings/Sweepers start on the outside of the zone and Centers become Goalies. The new spawn points provide an opportunity for defense to set-up quicker, and it balances the speed between teams (in KOTF, attackers are considerably faster at the start of the match).
The server has 8 slots for 6 players. This means a sub can jump in easily -- and when the server fills up, you can move to a normal Fortress server for 4v4.
As I mentioned above, Onslaught is the inspiration and this game comes close without scripting. I'm happy with it and maybe you will be too.

Right, it is a regular Fortress zone, not a Sumo one. You won't 'xplode. However, I am considering making it 2v2 conquerable. I'll wait for feedback.Bytes wrote:Looks great!
