New video card, Armagetron wont start!

Post by Ackirismo »

Hello everyone, I just purchased a nVIDIA GeForce fx 256mb card and I was like "Great, Now I can Play armegetron!" (Prior card was HORRIBLE.) Well I already had the card installed then I started Armagetron, And here is what poped up.

"Nvidia openGl Driver

Driver componet sizes Mismatch, Ok to keep going, Cancel to exit"

And I cant do anything from there.

Thanks in advanced guys!

Im running Windows Xp with 512 mb ram and an 80gig HD.

I'd say re-install or ditch windows, but I suppose you show a bit more faith in you OS...

now let's see:
have you de-installed all other graphics drivers ?
have you got the nesest driver version ?
did you get the driver off nvidia.com or windowsupdate ? (I don't trust windowsupdate)

I don't suppose this was very helpful, but who knows

That sounds more like an SDL issue than an Armagetron issue, but I guess we have no way of knowing. Do other 3D applications work correctly?

Especially OpenGL-based ones, that would include Worms 3D :P ,
tuxracer ( http://tuxracer.sf.net ) , cube (a free 1st person shooter, http://cube.sf.net/ ) and
bzflag ( http://www.bzflag.org ), just to name a few. DirectX games (most windows games)
probably behave differently...

Was Armagetron installed and running with the old video card? Maybe you could try clearing some entries in the var\user.cfg file to have Armagetron redetect your video card.

Code: Select all

Try clearing these entries (your card will of course be different). I'm not sure if these are the right ones to clear.

GL_VENDOR ATI Technologies Inc.
GL_RENDERER RADEON 9200 DDR x86/SSE2

Change to:

GL_VENDOR
GL_RENDERER
Or at worst, try uninstalling Arma, delete the var directory if it is not completely removed and reinstall.[/code]

My guess is you'll need to update your VIA chipset drivers....
