Re: Fortress
There is a short tutorial available here and there are several videos at youtube. That should help you getting started, another resource would be the wiki, although I am not sure if there is many information about how to play.
Re: Fortress
- Grind and split during the start of a round. Learn exactly how to do this by watching other players.
- Watch good players and learn from them.
- To improve your survival skills, you can practice in Sumo servers when there's no fortress game going on.
You'll notice the players on position 2/3 are often doing a special move called Double Grinding (DG) to gain extra speed. Note that this move is pretty useless if there's no pos 4/5 to provide a tunnel.
So yeah, to become a good fortress player, just gain experience by playing and watching good players.
In some servers you have to log in to play. To do this, simply /login warclown@forums.
Some useful commands if you're new to that as well:
/teams
/players
/shuffle
Edit: Lacrymosa responded while I was typing up my post. You should definitely check out the tutorial and the wiki like he said.

Thanks, both were useful.

Then you're already better than 25% of players.
/me shuffles back to the 25% he came from.

Re: Fortress
I was defending against you the other day and if you insist you're a fort noob, then I'm gonna call bullshit and say you're a smurf! You can take this as a compliment if I'm wrong
Re: Fortress
No, I'm not a 'smurf'. However, apparently, I am olive/Judders. So go fish.

sinewav wrote:You should do what I did: I followed DDMJ to every server he went to, all day long, and every time he killed someone I would ask, "Hey how did you do that just now?" If DDMJ isn't around, look for Goody, or any member of Twi|x|ted |x|ats (hint: look for the tag .x]) Ask them lots of questions about key-bindings and stuff - they know a lot and like to help out new people (how do you think their clan has lasted so long? because they are helpful!).
Keep doing this as much as possible. If they start saying "Get lost you n00b!" or try to brush you off, ignore them and keep at it. This is just a test they give to people they like and are considering for their clan. After a while they wil respect your enthusiasm and persistence and you can join them.
