While we can't do much to help (besides put our clan members on the lookout for imposters), it helps to know that your complaint is being heard by those who want to help, rather than falling on deaf ears.
ALL issues of impostering, regardless of who the player is, should be taken with complete seriousness.

1) Mkay quoted an old saying, then referenced the right-wing terrorist who recently crashed his plane into an IRS office building in Texas. Said wingnut also quoted that saying in his suicide note manifesto diatribe. If that made no sense to you, that says more about you than it does about Mkay (as much as I would like to point out Mkay's senselessness and dummy-tude).


2) No one has said impostoring is of no concern. But what do you want us to do about it? We've already told you all that can be done. Authenticate, have admins reserve screennames, be wary, and otherwise take it up with admins and the impostors themselves. What the hell else do you want? A big warning notice on the main page? "NOTICE: THE FOLLOWING SCREENNAMES HAVE BEEN RECENTLY REPORTED AS IMPOSTORS!!!" Don't think so.

If you want a mommy/daddy/nanny system, go join that T2O game, where you're required to authenticate in order to even play in a server.

We can't have people coming to these forums announcing it every time they think they're being impostored because it happens every day. You may as well post about people calling you a bad name.

I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in reading the suicide note of murderers who were inspired to kill by their own financial ruin.

I don't want a nanny system (but based on your other posts, you appear to be some-what of a communist; so I suppose you do want a nanny-system? ).
But posting here to encourage fellow players to look out for imposters is good - it doesn't involve some power-at-be helping out, it means the community works together to prevent the problem. In this case, orion is being flamed by the powers-at-be (if this is the proper term- I'm not sure what your level of power/importance is).

And at your last comment about the common-ness of his name, I do agree (that's a first! ). I meant to mention that in my previous post, but this is true.

Back when I somewhat cared, aka when i was younger, about people impostoring me in CVS test server/bugfarm fortress Z-man made it so only my IP could use my name without getting kicked. This was done by him because he owned the server it happened in, and because there was no real way to determine if it was really me or an impostor. Now that we have armathentication if you think someone is an impostor ask them to log in, if they refuse chances are they aren't the real person.

Also the problem I had with my reserved name was that when it first started, for a week or so, I kept getting people who didn't know to switch to my name and get kicked, which was good for a few laughs until my IP changed and i was repeatedly kicked for being me(good ol karmic justice).

So basically what I'm getting at is take Phytotron's advice, if you really care the easiest way to prove you are you is to be logged in, you can set it up so it does it automatically every time you enter a server. At the very least have it set up so that you just have to hit authenticate in the menu to log in. There is no reason for people to start multiple topics here about a problem that already has an easy solution.
