Here are several issues I noted during yesterday's Bowl/Ladle. FYI I've been adminning matches from the beginning to the finals. Excuse the list style.

First, some servers had crazy stupid settings(I'm looking at you, CT), so let me remind you some pretty usual settings.
  • ACCESS_LEVEL_SHUFFLE_UP 20
  • LAST_CHAT_BREAK_TIME -3
  • PLAYER_CHAT_WAIT_TEAMLEADER 0
  • PLAYER_CHAT_WAIT_MAX 60
  • DEDICATED_FPS 100 <-- café style
Something should be defined regarding postponing matches, but that can go in it's own thread.

Server admins should provide admins. In quarter finals in the PRU server there's been a match with trolls spamming the server. GJ!

Global IDs are case sensitive so it's Flex@forums and not flex@forums.

We should find a way to let people comment the matches live on the IRC channels without highlighting players, any ideas?

Servers should really, really be compiled with zthread support. Otherwise the server will hang when too many people authenticate at the same time, causing clients to think about a timeout.

Ty for the post epsy...i missed one setting there..and i noticed that those settings were NOT in many servers!

I will add those settings to the official Ladle settings for Ladle 22(/Bowl 2?).

we gave admin/mod user level to all team captains who have posted their Global ID on the wiki. And we turned the spambot off before the ladle started.

Sorry about that, but the reason this happened on my server was not the lack of zthread support. It's that as a bugfarm server, it's on permanent recording mode, which proved to be useful in the past. And that doesn't work with background auth fetches.

Just to let you guys know..although my servers had the proper auth setup with team captains. I did check on my servers before the start of each match to make sure that every team was setup properly. And, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that i was completely unneeded.

Also, as a precaution, i kept a console screen open to each server. So if I noticed a problem, I could immediately address it!

Can't they just be added into the official (b)ladle settings?

I thought i had ACCESS_LEVEL_SHUFFLE_UP 20, the rest i have no clue, just whatever the default ones were i'm sure

Also, instead of giving team captains Moderator powers, I gave them the Team Leader user level with some added features, which were all they really needed:

GZ durka on the optimized auth setup. I would have done that in my fortress freedom servers, but to build traffic in those servers, I am handing out admin rights!

disable highlighting
leave the channel while you're playing

well i did USER_LEVEL emmy@ct 1 ( same for empha)
and later he only had moderator access.
