I would have used a man to push the envelope even further. Domestic violence doesn't only touch the female population. Could you please explain your creative reasoning for using reverse video.

Hi QUARG,

My initial concept was completely different than my final project. I also enlisted the talent of the actress's real life boyfriend to "push the envelope farther." Unfortunately, his work requires him to be on-call 24 hours a day and we got stuck with one camera, some lights, and one actress.
Very true, it doesn't only touch the female population, but it is the extreme majority. I went to a domestic violence fund raising event last week and as much as I could detail about domestic violence, I only had two minutes and wanted to touch on the subject that meant the most to me.
Bringing me to your final question. My current girlfriend was the inspiration to the film. I don't want to get into much detail but her previous relationship was extremely abusive, both verbally and physically. Many women, including her, had/have a really hard time actually leaving the relationship. From an outsider's view it is kind of like "Doh, why the hell are you even talking to this person." But from their view they feel the attacker is doing it out of love in many cases. However, in the end, most realize that it really wasn't out of love, but a way for the offender to get out their anger/aggression. Hence, the theme is leave when you still have the chance; have faith in yourself and no one else; you are better off anywhere but in this destructive relationship. The first 90% of the video is reversed, while the last 10% (When she is actually leaving) is in real time. The reason for this is to capture the idea of all of the previous events could have been "reversed" if the final scene had been the first scene.

Thank you for your questions :D
