Challenge Ladder

There are lots of Fortress players, but which of us are good, which are great and which are the best? I’m proposing a straight up 1v1 ladder system, much like the one over at Crazy-Tronners. A challenge match would be just 1 match of 1v1, 10 rounds is enough for the cream to rise to the top. Matches could be played in any Ladle Fortress server out there. Challenges can be up to 7 spots ahead of you. Taking a challenge places you in the losers spot, defending a challenger keeps you in your current spot. I recognize 1v1 is not all together reflective of Fortress, a team ladder is in the works, perhaps even retro-active to reflect past victories.

Really love the idea, as it can bring more people to competitive tron play and also be lots of fun.

Still, I don't think it would tell us who's best at fortress, as fortress is played in teams - some players attack, some defend, some just annoy rivals - a team picked from best defenders doesn't guarantee you a simple win, does it?

On the other hand, such ladder made for sumo would be just brilliant. You can even make a server only for such 1v1 matches with 4, 8 or more zones divided by walls, just like competitive chess are played.

Oh, and one more thing: ladder should be updated once or twice a week at most, on certain days (like: every sunday, 12:00 gmt), because of rule 2 ("challenging within 7 ranks of you"). With 50+ players the ranks can change pretty quickly :)

Do you mean something like http://www.kingsofthegrid.net/board/?

I personally dont think that a 1vs1 fortress ladder is helpful when it comes to the question "Who are the best fortress players?". Like pike said, fortress is a team game and there are many ways to help your team that can't be counted by a ladder system.

Yeah, but Concord's system looks better (it's much simplier).

Thats right it only reflects who is the best at attacking & defending in 1vs1 situations.
