I am no engineer but do you mean that it is possible to build this when you think about gravity and all? and each turn would last around 2-3 seconds just to show the player the way the cycle can move from one wheel to another.
or does it crawl like a 4-leg-spider that has always just 1 contact to the ground? (if it doesn't, that would have been my next idea xD )
as you can see in the pic there are lots of "wheels" under the spider, but only the black one touches the ground:
i also thought or rolling heads
and i remembered this doll from "Toy Story" xD , maybe I'll make a cycle of it
I have made a few drawings here, tomorrow i'll replace them by screenshots and models.

With gravity and physics yeah. No crawling. I based it slightly on the crocodile rail engines they use in mountains. At least that's what the picture reminds me of.Word wrote:I am no engineer but do you mean that it is possible to build this when you think about gravity and all? and each turn would last around 2-3 seconds just to show the player the way the cycle can move from one wheel to another.
lol the tractor yeah thats horriblePhytotron wrote:snip...the cycle used in the "textures" folder is dumb.
I find that the old original moviepack http://armagetron.sourceforge.net/old/addons.html works very well with good fps
Writing code is easy. Finishing is hard.
First, hello to all on the forums!
Next... did this while I should have been sleeping.
I know it's 3-wheel instead of 1, but it's where my head went when I saw this thread and had to paint it. Figured I'd share even though it's not a real entry.
Turned out a little more organic than I thought it was going to. *shrug* Might change it, might roll with it. Heck - might not even get back to it (hope I do). But if I do, I'll make a quick mesh in modo.
Ok, so it doesn't follow the design 'rules' as the TR2N cycle, but I did at least try to go with the darker mood. Not sure what possessed me to put the wheel glow on the INSIDE of the rings but I dont hate it.
One obvious critique is about where the heck the program sits. Guess I could massage the design a little. =P

Welcome to the forums; this is a great first post.Vesh wrote:Next... did this while I should have been sleeping.
I had to comment because I think your design is excellent. About two weeks ago I drew a cycle that looked almost identical to this one, but I decided not to post it. So, this is pretty amazing for me to see this drawing - haha!
Looking forward to seeing more of your work. And check out the following thread if you're into such stuff:

I didn't see any hubless bikes in your link, 2020.
Re: design competition - a new set of wheel/s
ok here is the "wheelchair alternative".
Download the moviepack model here:

It looks a bit hypnotic if you play with it because of the transparency

try this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJPTSaARlvs
for a working example
if you notice
looks like they may be using hubless wheels in the next TR2N
at least if they are working on mead's original designs...
though i think that was just a mock up
