CRASHAGE!!!!
CRASHAGE!!!!
Hi, yeah, fun new problem after playing this game for almost 2 years,
For some reason, It has been just radomly crashing and the title screen refuses to show, in fact, the only way to get the game to run properly is if I hit alt tab, im running on Xp. Ive never had this problem untill now.
It maybe because I installed Omega Drivers to over clock my card.but if anyone can figure out how to keep it from crashing the game, that would be marvelous. I also recently downloaded Steam from Valve. So if anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated.

DrJoe:
You already suspect it could be caused by the Omega drivers ( whatever that is... ). I'd try installing normal, stable drivers again. All kinds of things can go wrong if you OC, every application has a unique access pattern. Even though Doom 3 and HL2 run fine, AA may have problems. ( you did not write whether you actually OC when playing AA, but the same is true for unofficial drivers. They only get testing for really popular programs. )
Steam, however, should not interfere. You can test that by closing the steam client before running AA, it should not change your problems.
Iceman: When did these problems start? Did you install a new version of AA or a new OS? AA normally does not access your hard drive during play ( when you don't hit r or make a screenshot ). It may be swapping activity. Can you see how much memory AA consumes when you get the HD access problem?

I fixed my problem, AA does not like me to have the card OC'd so it has to be put turned back down to normal settings. Thank you for your concerns guys and steam is only running for when I play HL2 demo, I cannot stand steam although it is an interesting concept. and besides, The card is only OC'd when I play HL2D, I don't have any way to cool it so I get about an 70 minutes before I have to consider turning it down due to the fact that the core and memory is dramatically risen.
(I need to buy a fan)
(N54, The hl2 demo is so awesome!, Especially since one of the funnest parts in the game is playable, Long live the Gravity Gun!)

Even without overclocking your card/beta drivers/beta OS whatever? From what I hear, swapland was upgraded to CVS recently, I surely hope it has nothing to do with your problems. Hell is running on CVS, too, and I'll be starting a crappy CVS test server later today.DrJoeTr0n wrote:Ok back to topic, I just did some testing out, and it turns out, I only crash on swampland, and no where else......
Iceman: depends. If your harddisk is really active ( I'm sure there is a tool somewhere that measures system activity and tells you that ) and not just spinning around ( reminds me: did you activate HD spindown? ) trying to fetch data, it should be ok.
Not that I have any clue about what is happening to you both...

Actually, Swampland is still running 0.2.7, but we're going to start running it on cvs code soon.
