-2 holing could be good and bad. The bonus of it would be you don't get holed as much or have to worry about torps. Also how would you make it? If it got holed by one person -2, then if anyother person holed another -2?

You want a person to lose 2 points whenever they die? Or lose 2 points when someone goes through a hole you made?

It only counts the first entrance into the hole (at least, that was the case when ds mega fort had hole points, and the case in tst servers.)

Is anybody else completely happy with the way the ladle is right now? I know I'm saying this as an american that can shed the time at the end, but really.

When I started this thread I didn't think there was anything to discuss! However, some of what has been said is very good and helpful. I doubt any new measures will pass, but were addressing the Ladle length problem better than we ever have in the past. So this is a very good, robust discussion.

iIm not sure about the -2 point holes, because I use holes regularly, even when they are in random areas on the map and it is more convenient to go through the hole rather than go around a long tail or a group of tails. Also, holes dont just affect offense, they are used when the defense dies, and a sweeper goes through the hole created by the defense to cover the zone.

Unless Im mistaken, I dont really remember how the holing system worked back when you gained points for going through them.

It only has an effect if you go through a hole in an enemy trail made by your teammate.

Conservative play is what makes the ladles long now. Why give defenders more reason to play conservative? How would that shorten the time?

Im with Poke, I like it how it is now

I like more people per team = more killing = more deaths = faster wins for CT (or I guess losses if you look at Ladle 41 ;) )

I think if time is a big concern the least invasive solution would be the shorter 3rd round (e.g. to 50 points?). But can it even be done with the current code? If not then I'm fine with leaving it as is.

So i just realized that we can solve so much of this time thing if we just make the matches like pickup. Pickup matches are 200 point limit and 70 point win lead. Each teams play 1 match because that should be like winning 2 matches. Pickup games dont last more than 10 minutes and it should not be a problem because a team has enough chances to win during a 200 point game.
