Re: IP Finder
Well we can try to re-open it when we have a better concept but yet I am not in the mood to think about it.

Re: IP Finder
heh I liked this also. Maybe AI can you like have this and only give out the link to it to clan leaders? This is very useful in making sure applicants are who they say they are.

Maybe.
Maybe those who are against the ip finder want to help me developing a better concept?

Re: IP Finder
Then all you little clan kids should do that amongst yourselves on a mutually voluntary case-by-case basis, not make it something that broadly chucks everyone into the bin. Clans are not this game.LucK wrote:heh I liked this also. Maybe AI can you like have this and only give out the link to it to clan leaders? Although you've already shut it down, the one further point I was going to make was that if you were going to insist on implementing this or something similar, at bare minimum you should have transparency about it. Not only should the servers that have submitted their logs be public knowledge, but you should also log and publish all queries. Perhaps use armathentication so that the person making the query must first "log in," then note that. What would then be published would be something like "Phytotron@forums queried [all those nickname results it showed]." Obviously, not displaying the IP, just the results.
Sunshine is the best disinfectant, as the saying goes.

Re: IP Finder
I guess if the IP finder thing won't work and can't be distributed to clan leaders then how about come up with a list of IPs to known tron idiots?
Re: IP Finder
This would deffinetally help clan leaders and server administrators. just put it back up for all to use. if you want to remain anonymous while under an alias. then just dont act like yourself, and give them no reason to check your ip... when i'm under alias no one can recognize who i am, other than certain people who know my play style in hr and ctf.
Re: IP Finder
heh it's impossible to hide in ctf.
i've tried tricking luffy more than a hundred times by now, entering the server under a completely random name (sometimes other people's names) even single binding with my elbows not saying a word... still takes him about 10 seconds to 3 minutes every time.
I miss ctf.

Re: IP Finder
I liked this idea, but I think just server admins should have access to it. Personally the only time I ever want to check an IP is if someone is causing a ruckus in a server. If they are just good and I know they are under alias I don't really care. I go under alias all the time and like people respecting that. It's kind of a catch 22 because abuse is definitely possible. Thats why I think making it just for server admins (perhaps those who are more well-known) would be fine. I mean really if the admin wanted to find out who the person was, they could do it. My intentions on this are only to cut down on the trouble makers and know who they are.
Oh and by admin I mean the people who actually own the server.

Re: IP Finder
i can try and help you man but the only reason i liked it is, when people put applications so they can join your clan you can look up who they are. Its alot easy then going around asking admins for a ip address for a certain player that wants to join your clan, cause it can take awhile for you to get back that information thats if they even give it to youAI-team wrote:Maybe.

Re: IP Finder
If you ever do something similar, force server admins to tell what's gonna happen to the users before they enter their server. If they don't want to assume what they're doing, then don't count them in.
Re: IP Finder
If you bring this back, I want a list of servers that are going to interact with this, so I can stay clear from them.
Re: IP Finder
this topic made me realize how many people pretend they don't play a lot, while theyre actually all under alias
I go under alias in fortress servers a lot to see how people behave and how they interact when I'm not there, syllabear and sin both talk about me a lot which is funny (aside from them a lot of others mention my name)
I wouldn't care if my alias was revealed though, because I use a different one every time
