what's even more embarrassing is that i have yet more pts stashed in a second account i use when i don't feel like talking to anyone. :|

actually what's getting to be most embarrassing is having this higher level status and still badly flubbing shots on a regular basis. especially since i've been using random bots in the hopes of getting DRAGON or KNIGHT.

not really, tank. you're not so far behind, i think. even with both my accts combined i prolly only have enuff pts for metal axe, which is a mere rank ahead of you i believe.

and i doubt i'm playing it quite as much as you think. on the days i play i pop in and out for only a few games at a time. most of my online time is spent in the browser, by far. but i'd say one thing that helped me build up a lot of pts quickly is getting in a room with ppl i enjoy and who are good teammates. so when things click we may reel off a string of major victories which can add up to a nice 100pt chunk pretty quick. remember also that my friend SER (proskiller) often finds me online and general pawning often follows.

btw, the buddies list problem seems to be fixed. all contacts are back. :D

GUNBOUND FRIENDS ETIQUETTE 101

various friends of mine have sent me up the wall recently. if you have any interest in playing with me in the future, i'd like to ask you to cooperate in these ways. otherwise just please remove me from your buddy list. it's that simple.

1) if you see that i am playing in a game and you want to join, just let me know with as few words as possible. i will tell you how close the game is to being finished. please don't respond by saying "OK" -- i already know it's okay. if you want to wait until i'm done, then i'm flattered, but pls don't contact me any further. i will tell you when the game is done. the reason why this is important is because everytime you IM someone you totally divert all key commands to the IM window. if i was in the middle of a move then there is a chance that my move will be ruined, so keep IM's to a bare minimum please.

bonus) if you know you messed up my move and i'm pissed about it, DON'T BE A WISEASS ABOUT THE MATTER. just say sorry and we move on.

2) if you have told me you want to play i will tell you the room number, or say "now, quickly". you need to be ready and move ASAP. don't tell me that the room is full, i KNOW whether the room is full or not and am most likely haggling with the other ppl in the room in order to make space for you to join. so just keep trying to join as rapidly as possible. the window of opportunity is often very small, so if you want to join then BE READY. remember, i am probably busy trying to convince ppl to enlarge the room or possibly kick ppl, in addition to asking everyone to please wait for my friend to come, so i don't feel like i'm asking too much in return.

3) there was another case recently in which an odd number of noobie friends and i were in a password-protected room and we couldn't get anyone to be the fourth so we could start. so i told ppl that i would leave to start a non-PW room and hopefully grab a low room#, which i did. then i told my two buddies to come quickly before the room got filled up, and they started saying "come back - someone else joined". what they didn't understand is that it's better to own a non-PW room and a low# room so that you can have your friends play in addition to having 1 or 2 strangers who will always fill the spots up to your preference. what really pissed me off is that my noobie buddies didn't give me the benefit of the doubt in judgement. if i was with SER or root, i would totally defer to them because they know much more than me, and i would appreciate some vice-versa from friends of mine who don't know the game well yet.

if this is too much for anyone to handle then please just save us both the grief and take me off your buddy list. it won't change our friendship outside gunbound, it's simply a courtesy thing. hope you understand.

eh guys, sorry if was pissy in that last post. i do believe in a certain level of etiquette, but i'm not really looking to lose any friends of mine in the game. if i removed your name in anger please add me back and we'll try again. now here's some new tips i learned:

------------------------------------------

Image

if a server you are trying to get onto is FULL, try cycling buttons (3) and (4) to refresh the list. there are so many ppl coming and going all the time that you can usually get on very quickly this way. btw, don't bother clicking on the server zone and then hitting the SERVER button to connect. just double-click once on the server zone. same thing with a game you are trying to get into: don't bother clicking the JOIN button. just double-click the room you want.

-----------------------------------------

RETAINING THE KEY:

if you are the keyholder (master of a room) and everybody is in READY status you only have a limited time to hit START before you get auto-kicked. but if you are not ready for whatever reason, a handy trick to avoid getting kicked is to hit CHANGE so that the sides become unbalanced. if the room is full this might make things look strange, but you can always change back when you are ready.

i just discovered by accident that you have a little shot 'bookmark' you can use at any time to mark the shot power. in area (15) look to the left and see the word "slice". just above and to the right of that is the bookmark, which defaults to the zero position. anywhere you click on the shot power area will reposition that bookmark. this is especially useful for TAG games when you switch between bots and lose the auto-placemark that indicates the power of your last shot.

since i'm not allowed to play in the beginners areas anymore (silver axe), i had to create a second acct. it's called flumpernittl. so add me if you like.

i also was able to finally create a guild, but you must be metal axe or higher to join. the name is critters.

well, i've been forced to make another beginner acct since flumpernittl is no longer allowed to play in the beginner servers. :(

the name is PrayerOne.

also, i have about 20,000 gold on my flumpernittl acct that is going to waste. i'm not allowed to send gifts to my main acct, only to double-stone axe and below.

so first-come, first-serve. any double-stone axe and below that would like a gift costing 15,000 - 20,000 let me know and it's yours. :star:
