Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
So much defense of anti-social, degenerate scumbaggery from Convict and Light. I don't even know where to begin, and simply am not up to the elongated rants for which I have an apparent reputation. So I'll just leave a couple summary comments. You're defending some of the worst of humanity. Not entirely surprising coming from someone who would make a server like this:
Or a gaming culture that has developed into garbage like this:
This is why when I paraphrase Hitch's book title to say Lulz are not Great: How Internet Culture Poisons Everything, I mean it. And no, this is not the typical generational divide. The cultural divide between Boomers and their parents pales in comparison. There is something legitimately disturbing about internet and gaming culture and, should it continue on its course, I'm genuinely concerned for the future of humanity as Millennials and the kids who follow, all of you who grew up on this trash, begin to move out of your parents' homes and more into the mainstream of society. I'm saying outright: These kind of people are bad for society.

lol Nice how you just assume shit, huh? Just because I host a server, doesn't mean it's mine or I really pay attention to what is done with it. Every server of mine has a "Light's" prefix. Even my test server, unless it's a tournament server, then it goes with the style of the naming given.
Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
So you would gladly host a server that said "Rape all little girls!!!!!"? Or is there a point where you feel like you should kick someone out?Light wrote:lol Nice how you just assume shit, huh? Pfft, we're only saying facts! not our fault you chose not to believe it then somehow try to turn it round on us cuz you know now that we're right, in the fact that people think it's ok, and if u knew the facts and he posted the logs, i bet every single player in that server is the same IP!
Anyway it's not like if i rented a server from anyone and had that name for my server and made every single player name themselves F**Kyou, i'd be refused hosting. Name me a host that would refuse cash for the sake of keeping it clean, pfft, you know fackall old man!
Edit: i saw Lucifer's post after I posted (must have been posting at the same time)
I seriously doubt he's saying that, in the slightest, or condones the server name, seems like both of you are treating us that way O.o
We did not say we condone it, just that it's f**king clearly accepted in online gaming, get a grip and don't shoot the messenger!

Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
But this is where you are 100% wrong. It is not clearly accepted in online gaming. We are online gaming and we don't accept it. That is a fact. A small portion thinks this is LOLGREAT. A vast majority tolerate it because they don't want conflict. And then there are bastards like me who will call you out on you vile, ignorant ways.ConVicT wrote:We did not say we condone it, just that it's f**king clearly accepted in online gaming, get a grip and don't shoot the messenger!
Get a grip on this fact: you are trash.

Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
Also go complain to "Treyarch", "Infinity Ward", and "Aspyr" cuz they obviously condone murder in your eyes.
Where do you draw the line?
Full of shit all of you.
Even when you refere to a core dump you say "kill" so you condone murder more as opposed to r**e, man whatever, you have the right to be full of shit all u want and u probs will continue to think you know everything regardless what i say..............I'm done here!

Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
The point is, that I don't pay attention to every little thing people do unless there's a problem. I don't feel the need to get all worked up because there was a swear word in a title anyways. It's just a word, and nothing to get overly excited about. There's also a huge difference between "**** off" and "rape little girls". One is stating to keep away, in a more vulgar way, while the other is saying to go and actually cause harm to someone that can't defend themselves. Not exactly a good comparison, but the point remains that I don't watch over people like little kids. If I find out there's a problem with someone, yes I remove it, but nobody has complained to me before about any of it, until now when the server has been long gone.Lucifer wrote:So you would gladly host a server that said "Rape all little girls!!!!!"? This kind of blame-shifting is comical.ConVicT wrote:So, really instead of having a go at people you should realise that by making this game available to anyone and everyone, you, the game makers have subjected kids to this.
You hold the responsibility, not the players.
"I'm not responsible for what I do online. It's Bill Gates', Steve Jobs', Linus Torvalds', and Al Gore's (for inventing the internet) fault.
If this technology weren't available, I wouldn't treat other human beings like trash."
You might buy this nonsense, but I think you stand alone.

Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
This is where we need impartial authority. This bickering would never have occurred if someone with the ability to do so, removed that kind of immaturity from the master list. Easily done, yet no-one does it.
Lucifer: I understand your point, but there's a limit to what people are prepared to do in public on the internet. In a place like this, I highly doubt that anyone would name a server as such. I consider it more likely that someone will attempt to retaliate against whatever "wrong" they have perceived against them, and act as such. Unfortunately, in this instance, the accused responded with immaturity. "whatever clan is whatever shit etcetera".
Whilst mildly offensive, most (if not all) of us have the ability to ignore it. You, Phytotron, for whatever reason, decided to bring it into the spotlight, thereby granting it more attention and beginning a battle of wits.
Our community would certainly not tolerate an individual expressing his wishes for others to commit fallacy or sodomy, and especially not such acts as taking the innocence from children. However, we still have the risk of going there, as arguments become more personal and retaliations more frequent.
I see it all the time, and call it out all the time, and yet the community ignores me. Why?
Because some of the community is more interested in saving face, or getting one up over the other. This is how wars started, and will continue to start, for centuries to come. There seems to be no presence for peace and turning the other cheek here.
Take a look at the murder in Woolwich, for example. By committing that act, the perpetrators believed that they would incite fear and thus be able to present their cause more openly.
In fact, what they did gave way to violence and racism. Few people in the UK have the maturity to say "Perhaps we let people into the country who had no real need to be here, but now it's done so let's make the best of it". Instead, they want every non-british person out of the UK, and violently demonstrate this fact by fighting against any authority or individual who says otherwise. Take the demonstrations up in Newcastle, where I live, for example: On the face of it, they looked pretty calm and well behaved. However, up in the west end of the town, where there is a large pakistani/bangladeshi settlement, there were 6 murders, over 20 attempted murders, a massive fuckoff street brawl, and nearly 200 arrests.
Violence begets violence. In the same way, immaturity begets immaturity.
Every time someone makes a crappy post that doesn't really add anything to the argument or debate or w/e (I'm getting sick of typing now, can you tell?), it just compounds an already poor view of them.
Bleh. Rant #2 over.

When you get a computer, you don't have to sign any terms and conditions before you buy it, saying you won't behave like this online,
but when you get an internet provider you have to sign terms and conditions against this behaviour online.
Attached is Armagetron Licence Agreement, nowhere in this does it make anyone agree not to say this kind of shit, so, that makes them responsible in my opinion.

Re: Education! (Split from Drawing Game)
While the GPL(which seems to be what you attached) applies to the Armagetron Advanced software and that you can therefore do anything you please with it within law, it does not apply to the service we do in providing public master servers for everyone to advertise their server or get a list of servers. You can still use the software used to make this service to make your own ecosystem of servers where you must swear every sentence or whatever, but this is distinct from the action of connecting to a "master" server. It's a bit like buying a car versus hiring a taxi: You may eat as you please in your own car but in a taxi the driver might ask you not to.
With that said, it is implied you can use those master servers as you please, as long as it doesn't hinder on their normal functionality, etc, and we have, as far as I know, no intention of changing that. It's just that we all think it makes you look like an ass.

If nobody told me not to be disrespectful and indecent, they are responsible if I I'm a jerk?
If I never signed a paper saying I would be civil, I don't have to be civil?
And it's somebody else's fault if I'm not?

Good enough answers, or would u like to ramble some more?
