Re: Ladle 53
I noticed that you are short a server or 2 for this ladle. So, I decided to donate 4 American ID servers, each hosted on their own VPS's in Virginia, which may be much better for Euros than the TronZero Dallas one. That would leave at least 2 backup servers, in case any of mine or anyone else's server is not working well the day of the Ladle. I also donated an ID server in Ireland to serve as a backup server, if nothing else.
When I started putting servers up, I noticed that the authority file listed on the Wiki did not exist. So, I created on that fits the file listed on the Wiki. Fellow server admins, you may need to make sure that you reboot your gameservers so that they download the file, which now exists.

Re: Ladle 53
lol. of the 2 ladles we put up 2 mym teams, they face each other in the first round. wowowow.
Re: Ladle 53
I can't believe you guys don't have a rule that teams from the same clan
are not required to face each other till the second round (or maybe later). I'm assuming this has been brought up in the past and was rejected for some reason? I can't think of any reasons not to do it.
Also, thanks Gene! I really wasnt looking forward to setting up my 2nd Chicago VPS as a Ladle server. I'll take that one off the list if that is ok.

because a rule like that would mean that a clan with two teams would have a greater chance of winning the ladle than the combined chance of two random teams

Exactly.PokeMaster wrote:because a rule like that would mean that a clan with two teams would have a greater chance of winning the ladle than the combined chance of two random teams
And what if a clan signed up two clans with different names and used aliases or something.
Randomization is da best!
Re: Ladle 53
Maybe a bit for the better clans, but it's still pretty miniscule. Doesn't matter to me either way, I was just curious.PokeMaster wrote:because a rule like that would mean that a clan with two teams would have a greater chance of winning the ladle than the combined chance of two random teams

Re: Ladle 53
The general idea is that a team is a team unto itself, and not part of a greater group.0000 wrote:Doesn't matter to me either way, I was just curious.
However, It's always been a dream of mine that the "super-teams" (those regularly entering multiple squads) would eventually swallow up all the others and Ladle would evolve into conferences/divisions. But that's just crazy-talk by me.

What's hard to understand?sufy wrote:Swallow up? What do you mean by that?
My thought was an imaginary future where the larger teams became so big and so powerful that the seriously marginalized smaller teams eventually disband and join the larger ones in some capacity. Super-teams might enter three, four, or more squads until the Ladle becomes a different kind of event. Each super-team might then have special intra-team tournaments and enter the winner into a competition that features "the best of" the super-teams. Think of the NFL, MLB, etc... where the grand tournament at the end of the season is a meeting of the best in each conference/division. We could have a Ladle "season" lasting 6 months, starting with a previous month of "play offs" and ending with a final, prestigious event. It would give more impact to the tournament for sure.
Keep in mind this is an imaginary future I've dreamed up. It's something that if it were to happen, would evolve naturally. It's not something to be forced into.

short question to sine or whoever made the brackets:
mind if I replace the "Speeders" server with SP2?
