I didn't play today but I've tried both maps and I like the original one because the grind adds a speed factor to the game.
Also, although you mentioned that the tourney was to test the new game style, you never said that only people in the tourney could decide the map. It kinda creates a bias towards people who like the map because people who didn't like it were less likely to participate.
Me too. This was a poor decision by those executing their command. I vote all the teams boycott it until they make a fair vote!
Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011
Okay here are my views
1. If you didn't play in this tourney you don't understand how this map plays in a tournament setting.
2. Mkay you don't appreciate the time me and Spin put into this. Give us the same respect you give Sine and the ladle. Right now it is so the team leaders vote. Do you know where I got that from? Ladle voting.
3. You guys don't realize when we said it has to be an overwhelming amount of people to change the map.
So I will put up a poll to see if we change the map since for some reason you guys think it will be unbiased.
Ps. Don't think your threat to boycott scared me I don't care if you play or not tbh I do this because I like playing in these tourneys and instead of being someone who just expects other people to do all the work I help.

Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011
I'm not sleeping yet?
Anyway, I've been working all weekend long. Not too excited to talk about this.
My view is that anyone who played or has seen play on the map and would like to vote, can cast a vote. Of course that can be abused by them assholes but hey, it's worth a shot.
We can look at all of the voted procedures and come up with something.

Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011

The results are skewed. How many teams competed in the actual WST? How many in this? While I do not have numbers, and do not have an accurate number, it seems that roughly half participated.
You said a vast majority is needed, let's say 75% of the team leaders approval. This statement is false, however, based on 50% participation. 50% competed, and 75% of the 50% is needed to change to the new map. That is 37.5% of the total votes of the origional WST participating crowd needed to change to the new map.
Ps. I hope this clears things up. Also it's hard on my iPhone to be as clear as I wish.
Edit: It is not really like ladle voting. This method needs only 37.5% of total WST captains to vote in favor, whereas ladles require over 50%

Where did you get that fromWord wrote:hey olive plays now with Durka and Hoax, our team has no teamleader so we'll probably need to get op'd
& sorry deso I forgot about this one, you should have come & got me. I heard you got people in the end though
Limiting any vote to participants of this tourney only seems restricting when the map is freely available to play at any time
Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011
The map sucks, as it core-dumps the aspects I liked from the original map.
The original map gave sumo another dimension. People had to 'play smart', as eventually the huge zone shrank to small proportions. The basic elements of sumo, holding zone and expanding, were essential. This map is all about crazy-ass mazing. There was more time for preperation on the original map, moreover there is no 'launch' in the new map.
I vote for the original.
and if this new map will be accepted, sine will be right.
EDIT:
just altnerate, like cody says.
More variation will be a plus, I think.

So we are scrapping the 1 vote per team leader? Wasn't that the whole point of the tournament?
At least 50 people played in this tournament, and based on literally 3 or 4 posts, the organisers have changed their minds.
Don't have a vote, realise that the vast majority of people are in favour of the new map, then backtrack on your own words.

Nah Spin (a person who didn't play in the tourney) wants the vote open to everyone and since this will be my last time hosting the WST idgaf. Sorry dariv I think it's ******* stupid to change it.dariv wrote:So we are scrapping the 1 vote per team leader? Wasn't that the whole point of the tournament?

You guys chose not to participate and that leads me to believe you guys were biased you guys didn't even give the other map a chance in the tourney. Why should the votes of people who have no idea how the map plays in a tournament setting have their votes counted?
The thing I don't like about the poll is people who played in the tourney like the map and most of you who didn't don't. Is anyone else noticing why I might think that playing the map in a tourney setting has a difference than while played in a casual setting?
Also, I really love how you guys go all out on making posts criticizing the way this is run but when it comes to helping organize it you guys are nowhere to be found.

I'll take a look at all the votes and see.
What we will do is take a vote after every WST for the map. Kinda like a ladle vote.
In the month between a WST, this vote will be cast by team leaders of the previous WST so if teams begin to hate the map and get a TST vibe from it rather than a WST vibe, then the votes will show to change back to the original map.
Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011
So let me get this straight.
First, you said we play the tournament and team leaders vote. They vote overwhelmingly in favour of the new map.
Second, you said anyone is allowed to vote, and so far, they vote overwhelmingly in favour of the new map.
Now, you're doing a second U-turn and saying the new map will not in fact be decided by this vote, but on a monthly basis.
Can I take a leap of faith and just assume that you yourself don't like the new map? The people have spoken, I think we should listen.

The old map was OK, but the size was incorrect (which sinewav explained here). You could test the old map with a smaller size factor after next wst (make another 'wst warmup'), and then let people vote. wouldn't that be a compromise?
I like both maps, and I'd keep the old one if you change the size factor.

Re: WST Warm Up - May 15th 2011
That is where you are wrong dariv.
I am actually for the new map.
This voting here is to get the map "in rotation". Do people actually want to play on it. If ya, then we can put it in a monthly or quartly vote for the future.
No need to rush this.
