Oh come on, let's be honest. We do run off new users here. We're not the nicest bunch of people around, and I'm not pointing any fingers and definitely trying to take credit for my part. There are people in the game that registered for the wiki but don't want to register here, there are people who registered here and post very little, and have told me they don't like posting here. Oscilliscope, since he's not here anymore, is the canonical example of what we do to new people around here. As a whole, we're probably nicer than we were, but it goes in phases.
He has a point about that.
However, what he's failing to understand is that *all* of the information produced here and by the people here is available to everyone, with
no strings attached. People who don't like us can still come here anonymously, search the forums, search the wiki, etc.
People who don't like his community can't do that.
And yes, it is true that these forums are the second reason there even is a community for him to take advantage of. The game itself being the first.
And yes, 21 is a kid, little boy.
Edit: I forgot something. Tank, what you really want is a function that expresses number of users and posts as a function of time. Maybe you want two functions, maybe you just want a vector valued function. Probably you want to take posts vs users first (where users is the independent variable). Anyway, then take the derivative of what you come up with. Then go to his forums, which are actually older than two weeks (I've been out of the irc channel at least that long, and Durka already came in and told us. He pimped his site at all the clan sites first, obviously trying to draw the people we've alienated, then came here). Do the same thing there. Come up with the same function that you've decided to use for these forums, and take the derivative of that. Compare them. The one that's larger is the one growing faster.

Ours should be smaller, actually, because we've been sitting at critical mass for the game for at least as long as I've been here, and when the player community grows, so do we. Basically I figure we've been at the peak of available members in the community for as long as I've been here.
There are a few other things to consider in this little forum war. When people want support from their friends, they ask their friends. When they want support from developers for the game, they will come here. That's probably the main reason we grow. Also, when people want to contribute to their friends, they contribute to their friends. When they want to give something to everyone, they come here. (More recently, the wiki has become available for such contributions as well, run by the same assholes that run this place) Your site, whether or not it is affiliated with a clan, is really just as good as a clan website. It's for members only. This place is for everybody, and that's not going to change.
