Code hunter wrote:Well seeing as this site is filled with lame ass holes who have no clue about web creation i would say you all need to get a life.
That's right. Most of us have no clue about web creation because we have lives. Shame on us.
Code hunter wrote:The game sucks btw and i made that site with the help of fmods btw durka.
So you have no clue about web creation either. I wonder if you have a life too then or is it null for two?
Code hunter wrote:And users rather go to my site then yours because i offer a lot more. Also remember that my site has been around for about two weeks and already has 89 members. so no worries.
Sure, 89 people, two weeks old, you're on a roll. I can see the offerings taking effect. It's just that when this place started up, there weren't 89 people playing the game hardly. In fact quite a large part of there being people at all is do to this place.
Code hunter wrote:Ill laugh on this topic in the future when my site is bigger and better than this one. Thanks for having me :)
The pleasure's mine. Trust me, you're not the only one laughing as s/he reads this topic.
Code hunter wrote:Also, dont bother replying because i dont like being part of a forum with no modifications to it and a bunch of jackass's that run it.
You're very conflicted about this place. You hate the game, you hate the people who make it, and you hate the place where it all happens. Jeez, why are you running a site again? More power to you.
Code hunter wrote:So fyi i wont be reading anything you shit holes have to say. First i was being nice and then you loonatics that have no damn life came on here talking shit when you have no clue about shit. I dont play your childish game anymore because it lacks.
If we're the children, you're the baby playing in shit. (You like that word a lot.)
Code hunter wrote:That site is mainly for members who hate you all.
If they hate us odds are we hate them so they can stay there.
Code hunter wrote:PSS- The shit thing has nothing to do with "character" thats a dumb thing to say. Little kids play this game. learn some information.
We're all little kids at heart, that's what games are about. "And so I'm offering this simple prayer for kids from one to ninety two..." You'd change that to kids from one to five and ruing it for the other 90% of the population.
Code hunter wrote:fyi im 21.

If they all agree I guess you don't have too many of them :D.

In short, I think the direction is wrong. It's superficial. Yeah, it's stuff that new players ask, but it's not what they really need.
btw i found this wiki to be a little confusing, but wat is wall humping??? and how do i get a dynamic IP?

I've had static (or near-static) IP addresses on all sorts of connections. A dynamic address is just something your ISP decides, although you can try to work around it with the risk of screwing up.

I did some calculations based on current rates of growth for the TGF and here (which is an exceptional fast growing place already) and due to the massive 3 year lead this place has it is physically impossible for the TGF to surpase the AF in terms of users, total posts, and posts per day, due to effects of community saturation limiting the total number of new registrations per day. This in turn effects the total number of users which effects the posts per day. I did some of this numerically and some of it is too complicated for my to fully express mathmatically that my equations are only partial. If we assume based on the current rate of expansion that the total number of users over x days from now is something like (5.83 x 0.988^x)x + 90, then around 520 days or so registrations will stop completely, which of course is wrong but they'll start to taper off. After this I can't express it well numerically but there's a ratio between the number of posts per day per user that with that expansion rate won't give close to the numbers here today 2 years from now. I'm interested to see if I turn out to be right or not :).

To be strict, people usually come across something on the web by finding a link to it at/near a known place. A new site is definitely not such a place; 'we' are probably sending people your way instead, at least for now.

Also, I wouldn't like finding something through such a closed place, nor see others find it that way.

Some of the people here may not have been the nicest to you (and for a reason) although they stayed calm, but I think you're going too far by insulting everyone at every opportunity.

Oh come on, let's be honest. We do run off new users here. We're not the nicest bunch of people around, and I'm not pointing any fingers and definitely trying to take credit for my part. There are people in the game that registered for the wiki but don't want to register here, there are people who registered here and post very little, and have told me they don't like posting here. Oscilliscope, since he's not here anymore, is the canonical example of what we do to new people around here. As a whole, we're probably nicer than we were, but it goes in phases.

He has a point about that.

However, what he's failing to understand is that *all* of the information produced here and by the people here is available to everyone, with no strings attached. People who don't like us can still come here anonymously, search the forums, search the wiki, etc. People who don't like his community can't do that.

And yes, it is true that these forums are the second reason there even is a community for him to take advantage of. The game itself being the first.

And yes, 21 is a kid, little boy.

Edit: I forgot something. Tank, what you really want is a function that expresses number of users and posts as a function of time. Maybe you want two functions, maybe you just want a vector valued function. Probably you want to take posts vs users first (where users is the independent variable). Anyway, then take the derivative of what you come up with. Then go to his forums, which are actually older than two weeks (I've been out of the irc channel at least that long, and Durka already came in and told us. He pimped his site at all the clan sites first, obviously trying to draw the people we've alienated, then came here). Do the same thing there. Come up with the same function that you've decided to use for these forums, and take the derivative of that. Compare them. The one that's larger is the one growing faster. :) Ours should be smaller, actually, because we've been sitting at critical mass for the game for at least as long as I've been here, and when the player community grows, so do we. Basically I figure we've been at the peak of available members in the community for as long as I've been here.

There are a few other things to consider in this little forum war. When people want support from their friends, they ask their friends. When they want support from developers for the game, they will come here. That's probably the main reason we grow. Also, when people want to contribute to their friends, they contribute to their friends. When they want to give something to everyone, they come here. (More recently, the wiki has become available for such contributions as well, run by the same assholes that run this place) Your site, whether or not it is affiliated with a clan, is really just as good as a clan website. It's for members only. This place is for everybody, and that's not going to change.

Yeah, we're not as friendly as we could be. Some of us openly are prejudiced against clans in general, I openly express my dislike for high rubber gameplay at every occasion, and we expect some work and intelligence from players seeking help instead of taking them by the hand and leading them all the way. But I would say we're as friendly as a more or less random bunch of people can get.

And there's tho thing that we're not: We don't have that "we're better than you" attitude that already radiates from Code Hunter's first post ("I just have more on my site", whatever that means, and "Greates Blabla" on the site itself). Oh wait, does that statement qualify as "I'm better than you" already? /me adds this to the list of statements that turn false as soon as you make them.

And we're not hostile. We don't go around on other forums and insult people for their perceived suckery. "Lolz ure a n00b" is not our standard greeting. With all that hostility Code Hunter has shown here, I doubt his forums will be, overall, a friendlier place than here. Right now, he's desperate for people to go there, so he's probably presenting his chocolate side there; but you just wait until he gets asked "I stated a server, but can't see it on the master list" for the millionth time.

SkullFlame: wall humping is when you repeatedly do double bind 180s against a wall, driving up and down on it. People do it on high rubber servers to gain even more speed and to seal gaps extra tight. IMHO, it's annoying that people do it, and it's annoying that there are servers that allow it. It's on the list what I'm missing because I'm equally annoyed by people chatting in color all the time and by double binding on low cycle delay servers (a setting I don't approve of, either).

Since when was my site a "Tron Gaming Forum." It's for the people that play my server. I also have some sections for 3 other servers and 4 clans. It's just a friendly community to go chat.
Code hunter wrote:Also remember that my site has been around for about two weeks and already has 89 members. so no worries. Ill laugh on this topic in the future when my site is bigger and better than this one.
I made a forum that after 2 months old, there were over 1,000 members on it. Less than 1,000 posts though. This kind of proves Tank's point & calculations. You have about 90 members and 500 posts. About 250 are from you. You're arguement is not making sense.
Code hunter wrote:Also, dont bother replying because i dont like being part of a forum with no modifications to it and a bunch of jackass's that run it.
It's got quite a few mods actually. And, these are real mods, not ones that you can make thru the admin panel like forumer forums allow you too. Tank added the subforums mod, the attachment mod, and a few others. Also, the template is 100% custom (made by Lacks). Go ahead and make a template by yourself. Break a leg (good luck).

Thanks for the feedback Lucifer, I was doing the math at 1 last night so I might not have been too sharp about it. I think I'll give it another shot today.

And I agree with pretty much everything Lucifer and Z-man have been saying, I just am a bit young to say it that way . (Another one of these boys you know ;).)
