Yes, keep rehashing what's already been discussed and settled, just for the sake of being your usual nuisance self.
EDIT: Page Break! And a much needed one.

Forget about the annoying kids and check out the awesomeness which is my lack of proper video drivers. Yes folks, you too can have an amazing 20fps (on a good day)!
No really, this rim wall transparency is so cool; but totally unplayable in a server like my racing one, of course.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
Right, nice.
In the interest of reviving this topic from the last few pages of kiddie crap, here are some I've been accumulating. Since I have multiple shots of the same event, or an event in progress, I've made them into animated gifs.
First up, this has occurred a few times in our Original Arcade server. One player will hit a wall and just stop, never exploding. I've also seen this happen in the AoT Racing server. Here's a time lapse of one involving myself (in yellow). Note that Mkay (in red) was going at the slow speed as this was happening; it lasted a good minute. Now, according to Mkay, from his point of view my cycle was "pulsing," as in the cycle model actually changing in size. When I've seen others get stuck, I haven't seen that particular phenomenon.
Next, an oddity that was happening in Shrunkland. I can't recall now if it was one evening, or was common on its last host. This would occur if I didn't do anything at the start of the round, just let my cycle go forward. (A split-second after the screenshot would be de-rez.)
Limit three attachments per post, so lastly are some typical, lagtastic invisiwalls: You'll see in the second shot what looks like a doublebind-created 180. Nope, 'twas the lag that caused it.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
Continuing now with a couple racing server glitches. These both occurred in that other racing server the name and ownership of which I can't recall—but you all will probably recognise from the stats thing.
Anyway, the first occurred upon my entering the server. As you can see, my view was placed waaaaay out there, for some odd reason that's beyond me. The temporarily high entrance ping may be some indication. The second is some kind of glitch in the rim_wall texture. Notice how it breaks up at certain spots. I've only ever seen it happen in this particular server.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
That is typical in G5's or in a euro server during ladle for me. I hate it but it is fun trying to remember where the walls were before they went invisible!Phytotron wrote:Limit three attachments per post, so lastly are some typical, lagtastic invisiwalls:
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
I think I've seen that rim_wall texture breaking. If I'm not mistaken, it's when there is some overlap between two segments, like so:
In the above example, two wall segments overlap by 5 points. Arma tries to draw it, but it flickers and breaks up.
At least, that's what I've seen from debugging other people's racing maps.
Code: Select all
wall1
point x=10 y=10
point x=10 y=20
wall2
point x=10 y=15
point x=10 y=25
At least, that's what I've seen from debugging other people's racing maps.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
Sine is right. Those random stripes perpendicular to the slope indicate overlapping coplanar geometry. That, or there's a lack of depth buffer precision, but then you'd clearly see distinct surfaces up close.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
as for the other racing one, where the competitors and race itself appears far off in the distance/nothing makes sense: from what I understand this is because you have loaded the map from the server, but due to the rotation script in use, its changed for the players, so you are watching them play on your version of the map (the one the server hands to joining players) while they can see the one that shows the actual race

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
That has happened to me many times upon entering racing servers. It has only happened in racing though, and the next round, the map is visible as normal.
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
This is a common one. CTF server disconnects you and one of more flags grow to fill the grid. Makes me smile every time. They would be so much easier to capture at that size.

@sine: I really like your visual setup. Mind sharing your zone settings and floor pattern?

Sine hacks.
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
I don't get it. Are you smack-talking? Also, I see your framerate is as spectacular as mine, haha.
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
You left the game, then chatted.
