that seems fairly right, by "pruning the sides" i do mean pruning one side and that both sides grow outwards (almost the same as he says, but not quite) as opposed to backwards or forwards (up/down).
i'm also still pretty sure that if you prune diagonally you get all limbs extended - which is kind of disappointing as pruning diagonally is hard to do so i kinda hoped there would be some reward for it.
if he's talking about a, b, c and d as extensions of 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively i thinks he's right even though i'm not completely sure - i think these rules change slightly at higher levels
i've taken a break from wf for a while now but i remember experimenting with simply taking 1 limb down and then the core but not sure what it resulted in (i think it resulted in the same as diagonal pruning but i'm not sure anymore) - this conflicts with what he's saying btw *not sure i'm right*
