-windows XP has a built-in macro system that allows you to specify keystrokes and their 'feed rate' to work with any application. among other things, this will allow you to draw mini-boxes flawlessly for as long as you need to reduce speed / tread water.
-gravis input devices (already mentioned) are fully compatible with army- less strain on hands.
-an old one, but... disable virus-checking and all other realtime CPU cycle-using apps before playing... use CTRL-ALT-DEL to examine the list of running apps, then research the ones you don't know until you are sure which to shut down and which to leave running.

telepathy is a nice trick, i sometimes get the feeling i foresaw a move, and indeed i often did, prob not telepathy though
so find yourself a fast server with a lot of lag and hone those alien skills
i also use psychology in the form of almost instinctly guessing what the other biker guesses i'm up to and then surprising him. lately i've done this a lot when i have great speed by not closing towards the arena wall when i could trap someone and rather thrown in an open corner or two, the result is a hightension "tube" which makes most ppl crash themelves, if i have to i close the tube at the last moment *kinda evil*
since the rabbit is now out of the hat i'll figure out something new
the right level of variation is the key

So you finally play with both hands? I have been both hand enlightened for a while, it's how I do the crazy squigly things that I ocaisonally do. (I do have it right that you are now using two hands to play, right?) Also, I have all my camera keys assigned so I can manipulate my view easily... Can I make that grind? *zooms in* Ahhh! I can!

nice tricks! speaking of the psychology one, something i was having a lot of fun with near the end of my playing career:
like n54, make the other person think when they are used to doing something automatic. example is when you have an opportunity to box someone and make them tread water for a while to stay alive. it would be nice to keep going after them for a kill, but it's too risky to push them any further (unless you are a top player of course
), so the classic reaction is to box them up and hope they fudge it before finding an escape. but instead:
if you see some uneven trails (esp. ladderlike trails) nearby, make your final 'close-off' turn and do it real sloppy, giving a generous amount of opening for them to escape. make them think you were careless and they might have a chance to escape and make you pay for your carelessness. then if and when you see them took the bait, run them into the nearby uneven trails. it's actually most fun if you continue to be sloppy the whole way, giving them a good opportunity at each turn to make the next turn successfully. but once they start turning it is almost impossible for them to go back, and the only thing that they can hope for is more carelessness on your part. usually they will crash themselves because of their increasing speed and their vague desire to hug the walls as closely as possible because they can't be sure when you're going to finally slam the door in their face. as a matter of fact, i almost never slam it. i figure if they can get through that torture they deserve to live (although it almost never happens). in any case, a hilarious time for you, and a very stressful period for them, since you know they are thinking the whole time "dammit, dammit, dammit, why didn't i just stay in my section and wait it out???"

Another nice trick few people use is to put yourself in a box at the end of a round and let the other person come in after you. Once they are close enough, seal them off and watch them suffer. There don't seem to be many players that can properly turn around and leave the box.
Just make sure you leave yourself enough room inside the box to move around for the 8-10 seconds it takes to end the round after the victims death.

lol, those are all very good ideas
the best thing i like to do is to lure ppl into a sense of security
let them grind the outer wall and believe that they are safe for the moment, then i grind the wall and end up behind them when they least expect it
also playing dumb against ppl that don't know me is also fun, especially when i end up winning the match

Unpredicatablity is always a killer. The best ones are the ones where you surprise yourself
I pride myself for most ppl not being able to predict what i will do next (hell i dont), maybe thats a sign of a hard to kill person ? And hence if you've had beer no one can predict what will happen (not even yourself lol) - see the beer thread
That assigning keys for crazy moves i havent tried (or even thought about)
so what you are saying with that is, for example, assigning y,u,i,o to lefft, left, left, right respectively to do a real quick about face by runing your finger across those keys ? Must try that some day (i wont use it in real game play, I will always stick to just my left and right arrow keys
)

I agree. Being unpredictable is an amazing weapon. You and sAnSiBaR use it well.subby wrote:Unpredicatablity is always a killer.
