If Rits keeps the bracket change then the problem has already arisen, as this is setting a precedent for future teams who request a bracket change merely because they're unsatisfied with the way the randomizer worked. I definitely understand why you're unhappy with the bracket, and I really do feel bad, but when it boils down to it it isn't right just to switch the brackets around because a team got unlucky with the randomizer. A similar incident occurred this past SBT, in which many of the stronger sumoers (Appleseed b3n Axon Concord Gazelle Poke etc) were all placed on the same side of the bracket, and many of them in the same opening round. Did Cody change the brackets up? No, and this made the tournament even more interesting and competitive. So again, I understand how you're feeling and I'd probably be disappointed too if I had such a bracket turnout; however, what's fair should take precedence over what we want.

To clarify, this is a one time thing and for the sake of fairness I will allow other teams to swap their spots, assuming that both teams are in favor of the switch. If by chance I host the next WST this will not be allowed and each team will be obligated to face the team they are originally matched against, no exceptions.

Wolf, you make a valid point, but given the current brackets, the switch changed almost nothing. Both teams are still on the same side of the bracket so no team's chances are greatly varied here. In fact, chances are Liz's team will still face apple's, but at least they'll get a chance to play someone else beforehand.

What the **** are you talking about. CTa and CTb had to compete against each other in several ladles before and even in several ladles consecutively and we never complained. It is completely unfair to switch random brackets, and for what? competitiveness? excuse me? does the competitiveness of a tournment vary if 2 strong teams face off in the opening round or in the finals? facing teammates? well sucks to be you, better luck next time.

If you don't turn around and make the brackets as they were originally I'll consider not playing again on it and would settle a bad record for the tournment and for you as a hoster.

In all seriousness, it doesn't make any sense to change the brackets in the slightest. It's just the hand you were dealt, and exceptions can lead to more people nagging about more exceptions. It's not really a huge deal, but I do think the brackets should be as they originally were.

Changing the randomization is damaging the legitimacy of the tournament.

It might not be a "big change," but now there is a possibility of the three teams that will have to go past two of the, as you say, "top teams," instead of going through one of them. The whole point of randomization is just that. It's random. You're making it a whole new tournament for that one portion of the bracket. The fair thing to do would be to play it out as it was. Sorry for the unfortunate draw but you should be SoL (not speed of light), instead of being able to "switch positions".

In essence, switch back to where the teams WERE, and do NOT redo randomizing. Doing the randomizing again only causes for more complaints and, again, damages the legitimacy of the tournament. No one should be able to move the brackets around because of their opening match-up (I believe there was a similar issue a long time ago with SP teams in ladle?).

Rits, intentionally making brackets favorable to a select few people, is Cody's niche on Armagetron - I doubt you want to travel down this road of moral depravity. It is unfair, and it defeats the entire purpose of randomization, which is to make fair and unbiased brackets. My team is facing arguably the toughest team in the competition during the initial round, yet I accept it because its just the luck of the draw; unless of course, it isn't.

In the end though, it's your call because its your tournament. Just keep in mind that there is a certain sense of euphoria that arises from deeds that exude genuine integrity.

If you're going to use 1v1SB or 1v164 as examples, these were before your time and these brackets are randomized but not with the irc, I do seed them accordingly. I would like to also point out, there hasn't been a 1v1 tournament in over 2 years. So nice try Fipp, you think you know it all but in reality, you're just a loser, slinging shit in a room by yourself.

Why the opinion of a server owner would be more important than a player?

I have a server myself. It took me 5 minutes to set it up, and I never worked on it ever again.

The teams players, on the other hand, are the ones the tournament is made for. It would be better if they could enjoy it, and not play just because they have nothing else to do that day.

If I were to play this tournament, I'd probably wouldn't like that people were to unilaterally change the random brackets. But as I don't play, you can discard my opinion.

But, you're right. Tournaments contributor spend a lot of time organizing it. It would be fair to be grateful and thank them from time to time.
