raph & insa: You guys are great players. Don't take offense at my post, because my main point goes back to Poke's post about tournament burn-out, which I don't agree with at all. All the Fort and Sumo tourneys rock (because tournaments rock in general), even though historically it's been hard to have a Fort tourney other than Ladle. I did express disappointment about not having enough tournaments, especially ones of uncommon modes. But now that I see you guys are interested, I might just have to organize something.

wat?

In the end sumo, for most players, is about surviving..in a box. It's called camping. And if you think that me saying that is "agreeing" with anything or anyone, your wrong. It's just a statement of fact. Calm down.

To get back to the point - I'd say that I agree with the general opinion that it's a bit too spread out time-wise. I was all hyped for the first round, found out my team weren't playing that Sunday and then had to wait for weeks until our first game, which I then forgot about.

And I do think a league-style tournament such as this would work and is a good idea, just some more tinkering and we'd be sorted. Maybe an added incentive may be necessary to get teams to turn up and continue participating. The problem with any sort of league is that as soon as a top team doesn't get enough players/has server problems, the mentality often switches to "we're the best and we can't win this now, screw this" and that team pulls out.

As soon as one team pulls out, other teams feel it loses it's prestige as not all the teams are competing, and it loses momentum
