Duh, your trusty admins. They could easily spot a shuffle war between two parties and demote them for the duration of the match until they cool down. It's more lenient than suspending and less disruptive too. It doesn't have to be a permanent shun, unless you want it to be.G5 wrote:Sinewav: Technically no problem. But who decides who is an abuser?
Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?

Check launchpad later for a “/vote shuffle” branch… just another possible solution.
Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
But that's not how G5 operates. Once when spook and olive had a "shuffle war" on my team (and i was position 1 to begin with, so i had full overview) and I suspended them for one round each, G5 removed my powers after spook had complained about it. When I asked him why, he explained that mods shouldn't interfere with shuffling wars.sinewav wrote:Duh, your trusty admins. (It wasn't fun suspending olive, but I figured i'd do it if it was anyone else, so why not a clanmate?)

Or maybe a whole new spawn position logic. Let people set their favorite position. The player that's on the team longest gets the first dib, competing players get spawned as close as possible. Everyone who hasn't set a favorite position fills the gaps that are left.dlh wrote:Check launchpad later for a “/vote shuffle” branch… just another possible solution.
Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
in my opinion there should be only shuffle down. if there is a way for like position 1 to hand his position to someone else like a trade spots command. higher spots can trade with lower but lower can't trade with higher. i dont know just a thought even if its stupid. or i dont even know if fort has something like that already. but whatev.
Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
I don't remember this but ok, it's not really relevant.Word wrote:i remember i asked you once, you said "ok" and it took like 10 matches (it was 1.30 AM) before i could have it; the ladle was on the next day (of course i wouldn't have started a shuffle war)ppotter wrote:In the real world that doesn't happen though, someone just shuffles to 1. The current way is fair, if someone really wants centre they can ask anyone above to shuffle down, saves any arguments..
If I want to def I'll shuffle, but if I'm just covering when really I want to be playing centre then no, I won't shuffle. It has no effect on the grind until the def is occupying position 2 or 3 anyway. If you think it's having an adverse effect you know you're welcome to take def at any time.Word wrote: And i'm annoyed whenever you're defending but don't shuffle so you can get center as soon as possible (but i know that nobody else wants to defend so it's understandable - allowing people to shuffle up would solve that though. nobody would say no if you would like to be center)
I don't see why they wouldn't.
Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
some kind of command that autoshuffles someone down from position 1 to the outside after 30 rounds in position 1? It sounds like you'd have to wait to get to the middle again, but the person there can only be there for 30 rounds max don't forget.

Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
Let's not forget how generally selfish people are. If they were willing to start shuffle wars, do you think they would be any more generous with shuffle disabled? No.ppotter wrote:I don't see why they wouldn't.
People who wait 5-6 matches to get into center rarely want to give it up. I just got done playing 1h:30m of Fort where the blue team had the same center the whole time. Also, people who join the game with the intention of "queuing up" for attacking positions often slack badly as defenders. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone on the outside of me abandon their duties and slip past to go attack, which essentially forces me to retreat to defense and sweep. Selfish, selfish, selfish.
So as the merits of shuffling rages on with no clear solution, I must say Z-Man's idea is pretty cool.
Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
I think 2 and 3 are the most powerful attacking positions of the team besides center. If one of them dies at start or can't pass his opponents the team is already weakened and has less chances to decide the round during the first minute. and position 9 doesn't add more speed so your team is always the slower one.ppotter wrote:It has no effect on the grind until the def is occupying position 2 or 3 anyway. @Z-Man: perhaps you could even let the player's positions take turns so everyone can get center for 3 consecutive matches

I had that idea already where Z-Man tried to help me.Z-Man wrote:Or maybe a whole new spawn position logic. Let people set their favorite position. You have a configureable number of spots (e.g. 9) and any player can shuffle to any position. So with 4 players you could start like that:
Code: Select all
8 - player 1
6 --- player 2
4 ----- player 3
2 ------- player 4
1 ---------
3 -------
5 -----
7 ---
9 -
Just wanna throw it in so maybe someone likes the idea and implements it.
Edit: sorry, since this has nothing todo with the original topic - maybe split?

I vote no.
Simply because every time some one just randomly wants center and they really don't care what you think. They shuffle up and then the person that had that pos would shuffle back up. This woulld conitue till admin suspends them or they get in a fight and someone RQ...
Right now it is good no one really fights unless pos 1 doesn't know what to do...

Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
Remember team shuffle or SCRAMBLE? Maybe SCRAMBLE could be implemented along with the motivation to solve the shuffle up problem. I think it would even be pretty awesome to have a server scramble every round

Re: Turn shuffle up on G5's Mega Fortress Pro back on?
Every match*
And yeah it'd be awesome to have scramble enabled in G5's.
