As for myself, I would keep it as it is - first sunday of a month has never been a problem for me.
On behalf of my team, I won't oppose any postponement this time, simply because Hamar and Sixzero aren't able to come on that day. We plan to win the ladles after this one
(Sorry for anticipating the outcome of some predictions...)

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
It seems like we have a few different possibilities here. First of all, I think that we should vote on those 3 months for at least this voting period as we haven't established a different method yet. Let's look at what we can do after that.
There are a couple of different votes we need to do. First of all, we should figure out whether it's worthwhile to bring up date voting for every single month. Sure, it kind of makes sure we get the right date every time, but it also means that it'll will be a little more work and a little more voting than we may find necessary.
If we do decide against voting on each and every month, then by what means do we decide which dates require our attention? Is it just by which get however much attention, or just by "ranking" holidays/events in which the ladle should be moved?
Either way, we should keep in mind that two of our biggest goals with the ladle are to include as many teams/participants as possible and to minimize inconvenience in the process for those participating. Personally, I'd prefer just voting every single month, as it's not that large of an inconvenience, and saying that 50% or greater majority wins, regardless of the reason.

Jesus, 3 pages of date discussion already...PokeMaster wrote:First of all, we should figure out whether it's worthwhile to bring up date voting for every single month. Heh, hold your horses. The 3 pages could just be a good sign that shows the fortress/ladle community is growingsinewav wrote:Jesus, 3 pages of date discussion already...Look, the reason we started voting for dates every quarter has less to do about holidays and everything to do about the World Cup. It's was meant to avoid pages and pages of crap like the last two, people talking about the same thing over and over again. Lackadaisical suggested the idea and we were all like "oh yeah great idea bro."
And lacka's method has been great thus far, but thinning out the number of things to vote on isn't always a bad idea. Let's just leave it up to the vote, since it's clear at this point that there's some disagreement on the topic. The only thing to do now is to figure out how we want the vote worded and how many options there should be. Any proposals?

why don't we vote on whether we need to vote?
for me it's a waste of time

How long does it take to vote on three dates each voting session? I think we should keep it how it is.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
When I proposed the vote for dates thing, it was a time when we actually had other (more meaningful) stuff to vote on as well. I think voting just for dates is a bit too much to do every three months.
Maybe instead we could do something like this:
- Someone wants to change something
- That person looks for support among teams
- If he finds 4 (or any other arbitrary number of) teams that supports the change an official poll can be started (and those 4 teams automatically vote 'for' the change)
- If the poll is accepted the change is made
I think it will keep the voting to a minimum, unless something really becomes an issue and there are actually a handful of teams that propose the change.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
Ah, sweet idea Lacka. Actually, that sounds quite like what what these discussion threads are about
. My only problem with your method though, is that getting "teams" behind your position sounds like a hassle, because then it means a pre-voting vote for more teams, and team leaders having to do even more organization. What I would propose instead, if we were to do something like that, would be just to say "x number of players need to post in agreement for a date change for there to be a vote on one", where x is somewhere between 20 and 30 I'd say. Sure that's a lot of posts maybe, but if they're very short (5-10 words) and even color coded, counting them up could be done very quickly.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
fwiw, I agree with Lacka's idea which makes it all smoother, while poke is taking it too far & making it more complicated.
Although,
Although,
How about if just 4 team captains support the idea, we'll have a vote. but that doesn't always mean their team will back them up, so their vote shouldn't be yes automatically.Lackadaisical wrote:- If he finds 4 (or any other arbitrary number of) teams that supports the change an official poll can be started (and those 4 teams automatically vote 'for' the change)

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
Okay, that sounds pretty good. My only problem with that is that it gives more power to team captains, which i feel they should have on the grid, but not necessarily in the community. I think everybody's voice should be the same out here.Titanoboa wrote:How about if just 4 team captains support the idea, we'll have a vote. but that doesn't always mean their team will back them up, so their vote shouldn't be yes automatically.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
How about (the number should be higher then, imo) 8 or more players from different teams? Just to make it worth voting on, of course.
(I'm only brainstorming btw)
