Well I'm glad my name finally lies! (INW)
Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
Gz to the winners! I thought it ran relatively well, but here's some constructive criticism for next time (and there better be a next time, because this is lots of fun!):
First of all, get more teams to sign up. Advertise to everybody, that includes all the big guns (CT, SP, etc), and lesser known groups (vB, mW, and others). This tournament desperately needs a minimum 16 teams to sign up to make it more enjoyable, and by advertising to all these clan pages, you will definitely get more teams to sign up. It might be wise to get somebody else to help you with this. Take note that a 16 team bracket should not hypothetically take any longer than the one we had today, as you still have only three rounds.
Next, the Death Zones did come way too soon - I think an extra thirty seconds like Spin said should be good! And if I'm correct, you listed the servers online as "Pru 1", "Pru 2", etc; but on the grid they were "Pru A", "Pru B" - this may be a little nit-picky, but it can be slightly confusing to deal with.
Also (and this happened in the first one a few months back too), you'll probably want to run over the tournament rules and settings with your own clan. I would ask questions to the Pru team in my server, and none of them could ever answer; in fact, the Pru team would be asking the rest of us questions like "how many points are we going to?", or "what server do we go to now that the first team got two points" (the latter question being after one team had won two rounds). So just running over the settings and stuff with your members might be a good idea for next time!
Additionally, "C0CK", I'm pretty sure, was three random players, who all quit by the time the first team got its two points. Next time you might want to be a bit more strict about actually having to list the team members on the challenge board.
Furthermore, the rubber in our server at some point (I don't know when, because my teammate Discostar pointed it out, and it could have been this way for many rounds) changed from 3 to 5, and it made significant difference in double binding abilities. It most likely would not have made a difference in the outcome of our rounds, but I don't know if this was a glitch or what.
Anyways, I didn't have any problems with the admin
this was lots of fun! Gz to ++, and was fun everybody!

Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
Was a lot better than the last one and gz to plus. I do have to say though that I wish that the finals were with 2 teams instead of 4.

Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
Good point...like the first two teams to hit 2 match wins in the 'finals' move on to the 'other finals' which is 3 on 3 basically. Interesting idea...would like to hear other peoples thoughts on this.LucK wrote:Was a lot better than the last one and gz to plus. Was a fun tourney
But I suggest you make a rule about the minimum number of people allowed on a team O_O

Don't hate the player, hate the entire clan.
Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
gz to plus for their victory.
/my thoughts on the game mode
I hadn't heard of this mode before, but I found it pretty fun. My qualm with it however is that when more than two teams are facing off, the mode pretty much is about who can kill the weakest players in the game the most. This is made worse by the fact that the death zone pushes players into different vessels resulting in the players who didn't die to suicide and the process repeats itself.
I do like the thought of more than two teams facing off though, more players = more fun imo. Maybe some sort of bugfarm scoring style, later kills are worth more. Turn off round winning points too, then at the end people will fight to get the kill points (which would increase as each kill went on) rather than camp and get none. Those settings + 4 teams (one in each chamber) would be awesome.

Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
i deeply appreciate all the feedback.

I hope I have addressed most points, please let me know if i forgot something.
I did advertise it to smaller clans, including Rd, nyx and Vertical Bar - but they simply weren't interested. Maybe you would be more successfulNelhybel wrote:First of all, get more teams to sign up. Right, we will change that next time. I've set it to 2 minutes one hour before the tourney started but it turned out to be too long, 90 seconds should be the best compromise. And i'll also change some other related setting which takes too long to describe here and i forgot what it's named but i'm sure Z-Man can answer that question (will post it later when i know more)Nelhybel wrote:Next, the Death Zones did come way too soon - I think an extra thirty seconds like Spin said should be good!

Most of our own servers were offline because dedicated_idle caused some trouble (bah) but fortunately compguygene helped us; so i didn't like to name them PRU 1-3 (the brackets were already made and i was too lazy to edit it out) instead of using the names they already had. Next time we won't have this problem, hopefully.Nelhybel wrote:And if I'm correct, you listed the servers online as "Pru 1", "Pru 2", etc; but on the grid they were "Pru A", "Pru B" - this may be a little nit-picky, but it can be slightly confusing to deal with.
Sure, i just didn't have time and thought they are able to find that out by themselvesSo just running over the settings and stuff with your members might be a good idea for next time!

This works for tournaments like the ladle, but in this case we got like 5 teams who signed up after the brackets were already posted. All i can do is appealing urgently to all possible teams so sign up early enough and to show up. If i was more strict i don't know if the teams in question would sign up again (for example, the ladle community could afford to ban any team without consequences because if it would depreciate the tournament.Nelhybel wrote:Additionally, "C0CK", I'm pretty sure, was three random players, who all quit by the time the first team got its two points. Oh, that's new to me...maybe we have to check the logs...can someone confirm this?Nelhybel wrote:Furthermore, the rubber in our server at some point (I don't know when, because my teammate Discostar pointed it out, and it could have been this way for many rounds) changed from 3 to 5, and it made significant difference in double binding abilities. Hey, during the whole tourney i renamed only 2 or 3 teams after they won a match. Titan had the complete overview of the situation. It was much smoother than most other tourneys i have played in, and i'm thankful that it lasted only 2 hours. All of Titan's actions during the tourney were justified, the thinking behind it likewise. Try to observe 4 servers at the same time and let me know what your chair feels like after 2 hours.Gonzap wrote:another shitty badmin, really you need to pick real administrators with less testosterone

Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
Well, word, you see, Gonzap is angry because he wanted to play for 2 different teams and I didn't let him (First GM, then SP). when I suspended him he started calling me names, so I silenced him because I didn't have time to argue. Then he felt that I was abusing my powers.
Oh and the rubber mistake was my fault, sorry. In retrospect, I remember doing the cycle_rubber -1 trick to (re)start a match or two faster, then setting the cycle_rubber to 5 instead of 3 by reflex. Hope it didn't affect the tourney all too much.

I don't know; watching 11 servers for 4-5 hours was pretty touch last WST XD Btw Word; could you post or PM me the scorelogs or even complete logs which include the scoring/core dumping of servers 1(A) and 4(D) please?Word wrote:Hey, during the whole tourney i renamed only 2 or 3 teams after they won a match. LOL!Gonzap wrote:calling you names? what a ******* liar, i called you nothing
But yea... I also think that the score you get for winning a round should be lowered to like 1.
Re: Crosseyed and Painless Tournament 2
i can't, maybe Ai and compguy will be able to help youINW wrote:Btw Word; could you post or PM me the scorelogs or even complete logs which include the scoring/core dumping of servers 1(A) and 4(D) please?
