Own personal whine: we still don't have the specs that leave the server to go watch on the stream. It took us kicking in order to get streamer and shoutcasters in.ItzAcid wrote:we have the live feed now :)

Easily fixed: active moderation.
And after a short while people will learn that enter = kick.

Re: Money Tournament
No, they'll just come back and complain. Then on forums. Etc.
Re: Money Tournament
What about the people whose computers can't handle watching a stream? (Not saying mine can't) I just think that people shouldn't have to watch the stream if they want to see something.
Re: Money Tournament
You have 5 seconds to explain why he has 5 seconds...
(Forcing people to watch stream instead of game client is retarded.)

Re: Money Tournament
Before we get too off-topic, the stream just happens to be the easiest and most practical way to get the Ladle to a larger audience - not necessarily the ideal way. Video streaming is certainly better than the SVG streams CT had at one time, but not as good as having a mirror server for spectators to connect their clients too (the latter requiring significant development time that is better spent on other areas of the game).
I, for one, can't easily stream video over my connection. But, it's better than missing the game altogether.

This also doesn't introduce any new audience than people who already have the game.sinewav wrote:having a mirror server

If a computer can't handle a stream I doubt it can play armagetron very wellLucK wrote:What about the people whose computers can't handle watching a stream?
Wouldn't ever pay to play such an unregulated game

Re: Money Tournament
My last computer (600 MHz iMac G3) didn't handle video streams very well, but handled Arma just fine (especially after 2.8—previous versions had some SDL issue that destroyed framerate on Macs).

I'm not buying it.epsy wrote:No, they'll just come back and complain. Then on forums. Etc.
Just add "Do not enter.. blabla" something to the server name.
If people still complain, we can lol at them.
Also, set max_clients on a reasonable level so you can't be flooded by noobs - for easier moderation.
Re: Money Tournament
Interesting anyone else with a slow/old computer have the same experience? I would have thought armagetron would demand more from a computer than watching a stream. Maybe it was your internet connectionPhytotron wrote:My last computer (600 MHz iMac G3) didn't handle video streams very well, but handled Arma just fine (especially after 2.8—previous versions had some SDL issue that destroyed framerate on Macs).
Re: Money Tournament
This would be like forcing people to watch the stream. What if we don't support the stream? Does that mean that we do not have the right to watch the ladle? I personally like watching the game and discussing it with people who actually know what the **** is going on( no offense to forecast dude). I personally thought that the set max_clients was reasonable. What makes the stream so special? What about people who want to record? How would you decide who get kicked and who doesn't? What if someone who wants to watch the ladle and can't watch the stream due to parent restrictions or lack of a good computer gets kicked over someone who could and is watching the stream? So many problems I see with this. If you want to do the stream then I think you should do it in a decent way. Like how epsy was kicking people from the server so Forecast could get in why the **** didn't epsy just leave? Why don't forecast, sine, and dubs have another client open in the server that the finals will be in?Titanoboa wrote:I'm not buying it.epsy wrote:No, they'll just come back and complain. @Hoax Armagetronad takes a lot less RAM then streaming. You have to take the amount of RAM the web browser itself takes up in consideration.

Definitely on my older laptop.
