I am used to the same style he is.compguygene wrote:Mecca, Ari spent just over 2 years playing HR with settings very similar to the new Volume Zero HR server. He, by his own admission, has trouble with the style of HR play that you are used to playing with stabbing, complex traps, etc. He is used to using quick tight double binds and fast acceleration to be able to get a speed advantage over others and trap and kill them. It is a different style of play.
Unlike him, I am able to change my strategy when the settings are changed.

Mecca, you're one of the most flexible players I have seen in all of Armagetron!Mecca wrote:I am used to the same style he is.compguygene wrote:Mecca, Ari spent just over 2 years playing HR with settings very similar to the new Volume Zero HR server. Armagetron: It's a video game that people should just play and enjoy

Re: Bring HR back!?!
How can someone say "right now low rubber is much more popular?" There are like three regular (i.e., non-gimmicky) low or lowish rubber servers now. Shrunkland barely counts. And I never see anyone in any of them.
I was in checking out this new Shrunkland clone a week or two or whenever ago. Some fool player whose name I'll redact comes in. Predictable bitching about the rubber being glitchy, buggy, messed up. I explain that it was deliberately designed to disallow adjusting or 180'ing against a wall, the relevant settings, and the history behind that (i.e., the old bounce bug, the fact that Shrunk started as 0.2.7.0, yadda yadda).
He proceeded to lecture me that Fortress-type servers and the ability to adjust/180 into a wall are all A) More "classic" than Shrunkland's settings, have been around longer; and B) are more intuitive than Shrunkland's settings.
Say what?
Most of the players these days (all now apparently braindead teenagers) are like creationists. The same logic that has one believe the earth and humans are and always have been the same as they are right now. Same for AA, no matter what someone or the evidence tells you.
