Not sure what you meant by that so...Z-Man wrote:Princess Peach (I guess she didn't have a name back then)
In case you meant that she had no first name or whatever:
First name: Peach
Last name: Toadstool
Source:
In Super Mario 64 (for Nintendo 64), if you watch the opening scene (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN7o97fwCNg - skip to 1:10) Princess Peach is reading a letter she wrote to Mario where she signs off as "Princess Toadstool, Peach".
In case you meant that the name was never mentioned: (When Mario was Jumpman)
The girl's name was "Pauline". (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donkey_Kong_(video_game))
Check this out: (Mario looks like pop-eye with a mustache lol!)

...
But onto something more on-topic:
TBH I haven't read this thread thoroughly...anyone mention armagetron?

Been playing a lot of emulated Berzerk ever since buying an Artari-style USB joystick. Worth every penny. Some of those games are impossible to play well on a keyboard.Phytotron wrote:Sinewav's current avatar.

Cool. Using retrousb adapters is my preferred method, as you can still use the original controllers. And, if you didn't know, the Atari, Sega Master System and Genesis, and yes, the almighty Vectrex all use the same connector.sinewav wrote:Been playing a lot of emulated Berzerk ever since buying an Artari-style USB joystick. I agree, using a keyboard just don't cut it.
What's fantastic about Berzerk is you have the four versions—the original arcade version, the Atari 2600 and 5200 versions, and the Vectrex version, each with their own unique qualities. I would post my high scores, but they're all on my old eMac hard drive still.

Excellent. Never knew about those, thanks. Now I can look into getting an Atari paddle to play Night Driver.Phytotron wrote:Cool. Using retrousb adapters is my preferred method...

Yo, you need to tell me what switches you used for that score so we can compare.
We could do the same with the MAME version of that or others (including making sure we use the same dip switches).
Incidentally, our own local barcade recently got a write-up (short video too). Yep, has a TRON machine.
The Louisville Arcade Expo is coming up next weekend, too. Woohoo!
Anyway, ran across this article: Resogun developer working with creator of Robotron, Defender on a new game

Re: Good, old, games
We just got Super Mario Wii. While it's not an old game, it really is just Super Mario Brothers 3 with four player mode.

Re: Good, old, games
We're really eager to get a Wii (the original and backwards-compatible, not the U), but still waiting on prices to come down in the secondary market. I'm just hoping we can get in before Nintendo drops Virtual Console support for it. I'm not really even all that sure what we might get off there, but I'd hate to be too late and realize we missed out on something.
Re: Good, old, games
The Wii is a great system. It does suffer from a shit-ton of bargain bin style games, but when you get the good ones, it's a great little machine.
We're not upgrading to any system in the near future, and I don't really anticipate doing so in the far future. We're not console gamers, which is exactly the audience the Wii appeals to (i.e. people who aren't console gamers). It's the most social gaming platform I've ever seen.
Definitely recommend it, especially with game prices dropping like they are.
Ours is also the old backwards-compatible one, but we don't have any gamecube stuff to use with it. Typically, a game will upgrade the system if it needs to. From what I've seen so far, that seems to work well.
As for online support, the Wii is supposed to be supported in the Wii U world as long as possible.
Ours isn't currently connected to the internet, though. Haven't gotten around to adding it to the MAC filter.
