This is Ladle-5 Final.
TM won it, BUT look at overall score:
TM: 402 - this team won (!)
WS: 470 (!!!)
Look at overall score by player!
JJBean was the best! 70 points! = 35 "core dumps", BUT (!!!) hw was owned 25 times. So he won 70 points, but lost 50.
And as you can see in table "delta" Zop and Spidey were the best!
Thanks for linking that table, only saw it today :)
Well, keeping track of the average scoring of the team's elements seems to point out who was the best scoring -group of players-, as in, team.
About the top scorers, you could have one for best "delta", one for top scorer, one for teamkills, ...

Of course a particular statistic doesnt point out who the best player was, but thats not the point, I think just having some more info would be nice. Specific information about particular aspects of a team/player add more to the game IMHO.
Also look at this: http://wiki.armagetronad.net/images/4/4c/SLvsAW.PNG
SL vs AW. SL won this one! BUT score were:
SL: 254
AW: 296 (!!!)
but SL won! :)

PS I created this tables using logs that we all saw at our screens during the game.

What's wrong with math? It's a great way to define scoring.

Nothing is wrong with math.
But if the aim is to reach most people with a direct, straight forward way, perhaps some things could have been put in an "easier way" Since its still early thoughts.
Of course rules would have to be defined in an exact way though.

I really agree with max about this, I've actually had the thought to somehow put all previous ladlematches (and perhaps spoon and twc-matches) into a database, and calculate who has the best win/loss ratio and stuff. I think playing a match knowing that you could get a better ranking than someone else just makes it that more exciting.

Anyway, with all these good ideas about how we could improve/create competitive gameplay beside the ladle, I thought it might be a good idea to lose the specific model i had for kings of the grid and just.. Put up a forum or whatever and see if we can organize something, maybe start with something simple.

I'll have to wait till i get my internetservice from my evil isp though :x

1. Thanks lack :P
2. Did you play in this ladle or no?
3. You should start this database maybe starting at ladle 9 or something so we can start having regular teams (I think only SP and WS are the only teams that are classic concerning ladles and im not sure that WS is playing in ladles anymore)

hi lack

so
kings of the grid are on?

shall we just set a date time server
and the winning team stays on...?

eg thursday nights from 8pm gmt?
winning team is committed to turning up and taking on all challengers?
new games every hour...?

could something like that work?

and as for a league...
do we have a regular night slot
or are teams just going to try to arrange it themselves...?

as for the ladle
i will write up the next challenge board soon :)
hold the line

thanks maz
checked out the co-ordinates for whatup's move
and it is good

however
the recording seems to be set up differently
and i am forced to one camera position
in fact
all settings seem to be different
with sparks etc

well
i can't seem to manipulate the recording
and thus editing is almost impossible

it keeps crashing whenever i try to alter positions etc

@z-man:
have you altered something in the recording settings?

Sure, they're done with stock 0.2.8.2.1 settings. Moving the camera should work now. The thing that causes crashes is the kickvoting; you must not exit the kick vote menu when it pops up.
