Update the wiki, Canada didn't leave.. they later came back with more players and we beat them 2-0.

Personally I enjoyed the 2 sort of "qualifying matches", now it ramps up into if you lose a set, you are done. That every match was 2:0 shows a gap between the teams, but with even teams the opening round could be really intense.

I'm assuming most teams had lots of no-shows due to lack of communication. In the ladle most of us chose our team/clan leader(s) and talk to them a lot more than whoever led the country team. Also the ladle is established so people know exactly what is going on, this being a first time event led people to maybe not take it as seriously (Oh well, their loss :P).

As for the idealism - yes one team per country and no matching countries together would be ideal, but ideal does not mean most fun. My situation was that I wasn't included in the randomization for the USA team by accident, so I was assigned to team Canada. Upon learning team Canada didn't want non-Canadians playing on their team, I joined up with the Hispanic (Not exclusively Spain) team which was created after I had been put on Canada (which I would have joined if it was there before).

Also just pointing this out, this is the kind of climate Concord had referenced at one point. Where clans are split and there are teams which train/play together. I agree with Slov, it would be awesome to see these teams stick together and develop.

The most appealing aspect of this to me was/is the unpredictable and spontaneous formation of teams. I like the surprises! Do we want this to become another Ladle? I don't think so. I do think this could be a great annual event though :)

I think another fortress brawl would be better for that (which would be awesome btw).

But for me, this format is pretty awesome, the group stage etc..., I know it's not practical for ladles, and it really wasn't exciting because of the skill difference in teams, but with even teams, and maybe groups of 4 (maybe teams of 4 or 5 to get 16 teams, 4 groups of 4), every match would be intense and you could potentially watch 2 other teams battle which might determine if you advance or not (like the world cup).

Well, I had a lot of fun. It was crazy as all get out, but still pretty fun. I think we did OK for only having 4 (and for a bit of the time 3) players. :) Wish I'd remembered to practice some earlier. I had trouble with the physics a bit. Playing with an 'avoid' the wall mentality is a bit disadvantageous as the turn delay meant I couldn't adjust. Still, good times! Tit provided some good leadership and organization as well which I think really helped things.

Lots of no show's. also I don't like how many USA players are playing for other teams, poland had 5 players and 3 were American...

It makes it more random, and less "international"

Agreed. One thing I didn't like was that all the good USA players were scattered through the 3 teams. That way no USA team was good. :/

Anyway; the 2 matches in my server today seemed to handle well for all euros.
