Random Screenshots Thread
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
There is something that seems a little deliberate and composed about that. I'd consider it ArmagetronART. Either way, it looks totally kick-ass and I wouldn't mind it hanging on my wall.

Nothing composed, just a product of settings that methinks would(/will?) make a neato server. And happening to catch the smart cam as it panned overhead.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
This happened in Bebop in Harlem last night. Orange (sinewav) first beats Green's (me) grind, but then passes right trough the corner of Green's wall on the next turn. While the first time I've caught it in a screenshot, this and similar has been happening occasionally for some time now. Another variation occurs when, for example, I beat someone's grind on the rim, but end up crashing on the inside corner of their earlier turn, if you get what I mean—I've apparently jumped to the inner side of their wall.
I have no idea how to reproduce either case deliberately.
As far as the image, I exaggerated the colors and drew in some directional arrows to make the moves a bit clearer, not that it was entirely necessary. Orange begins from the bottom of the screen, Green from the top (then comes back later for the screenshot, and subsequently crashedup).

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
A bug like this has been fixed on 0.2.8 mid-2009. BiH is running some ct+sty, no clue whether the bugfix has propagated to there. Edit: though that bug required infinite tail length.
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
Here is a similar interaction using the most recent 0.2x with infinite trail length. Now, this case is surely not because of a bug, but because the spawn points on this map are perfectly in-line with each other. Sometimes (lot of times) you can not split at the start and drive "inside" your opponent's trail.Z-Man wrote:Edit: though that bug required infinite tail length.
In the case below, the player "driveLock" entered my trail, then split immediately, placing itself between me and my teammate.
I kind of like when cycles pass through each other once in a while because it happens so rarely, and it's such a fun surprise. It also reminds me of the weirdness of the quantum world; it's kind of like "crossing symmetry" or something (like I really understand what that is).

Not a bug. Not even a cool screen shot either. Just thought I'd share.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
Yeah, which is why I've asked Gene to make both BiH and Shrunkland (and 'goshdarn) the latest official/stable version when they migrate over to the new datacenter. Then we'll see if this kind of stuff continues.Z-Man wrote:BiH is running some ct+sty, no clue whether the bugfix has propagated to there.
In the meantime, like sinewav, I too find it amusing, so long as it's not persistent or frequent. Things do behave very oddly on the quantum level. Now, if we could have a single lightcycle unpredictably appear in two places at once.

Re: Random Screenshots Thread
You want to edit that post to be less randomly insulting. Trust me.
Re: Random Screenshots Thread
I think it was 9v9 or 10v10. I was sorta amazed by the score ...
... but ...
the next match, Your_mom ended up with 24 or 26, and the rest on single digits.
Thanks for ruining my happiness your_mom![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
