0.2.8 (beta 3 tagged)
Up to you. The direction I went before I decided to shuck when I got back to it, but I may not be able to touch it for another week or so, if that.z-man wrote:It's done. Lucifer, will you have time for the screen modes? If not, I can do them too. rScreen.cpp is quite a mess because it's still backward compatible with SDL 1.0 and I'll waste less time on in.
I was going to just create a new menu item to replace the old and have it work that when you set the screen resolution, it would just set SCREEN_SIZE to custom and then fill in the CUSTOM_* parameters. The other way, building the list that exists and then trying to store it in a config file was turning out to be pretty hairy and is the whole reason I started looking at ways to improve the GUI in general.

Anyways, we're in a big housecleaning project right now so we can go on vacation. I don't know how it is up there in Germany, but here in Texas if there's so much as a crumb left when you leave your house for a week you might come back to a house with 200 tons of cockroaches. So my availability depends on that right now.

No cockroaches here, luckily. We just have ants, but they seldomly find their way into our flat, and if they do, they get eaten by spiders before they can report back to HQ
I implemented the screen mode query in gMenus.cpp (with some support in rScreen). A fallback to the hardcoded list in case the OS does not supply a resolution list is still in place. I'm working on sorting the selection list, because the ordering the resolutions come in is somewhat odd sometimes.

Now it's time for me to bump:
The only item left on the roadmap is the resource management server:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.p ... tid=742491
What's up with that?
Are there other things that hold back the branch that are not on the roadmap tracker? A finalized Rim/Obstacle wall map syntax, perhaps? I've "only" got bugfixing to do, and it's pretty much irrelevant to me whether I do that on the trunk now or on the branch later, but others may be waiting for the branch to happen so they can go crazy with new features in the trunk.

The actual code should work-- the only thing left is the server-side resource management. Right now, I'm taking emails to luke_aaresources@dashjr.org with new resources to add. The automated management depends to an extent on whether we use Mambo or Wordpress or something for a backend (need to talk about that stuff w/ Luc) which may not be ready until 0.3ish.z-man wrote:The only item left on the roadmap is the resource management server:

Well, we need some bugs to fix for a 0.2.8.1 release, right? =pz-man wrote:I've "only" got bugfixing to do, and it's pretty much irrelevant to me whether I do that on the trunk now or on the branch later, but others may be waiting for the branch to happen so they can go crazy with new features in the trunk.

I thought I might just post this query here, since it appears to be a generalized 0.2.8 thread. Mainly directed at nemo:
Will the eventual release (not CVS) work on systems prior to OS 10.4? I know you're aware of the current problem there, so I'm just wondering if it has been, or plans to be, fixed. It wouldn't be good for all us 10.2.8 users to be left shit out of luck, eh.

Let's put that as a comment on the SF entry and move it one release down the road then.Luke-Jr wrote:The actual code should work-- the only thing left is the server-side resource management. Right. No release series that has any self esteem would dare to end in .0Luke-Jr wrote:Well, we need some bugs to fix for a 0.2.8.1 release, right? =p

Well, the client-side part is done... just not the server-side, which isn't really related to client releases.z-man wrote:Let's put that as a comment on the SF entry and move it one release down the road then.Luke-Jr wrote:The actual code should work-- the only thing left is the server-side resource management. Yes, documentation definitely should be done, I moved the corresponding tracker item. It's assigned to me, but of course, I'll happily accept documentation submissions for the ingame admin, mapping and everything else. The format can be plain text or not too fancy HTML.
Umm, Phillipe, isn't this a bit too much for a last minute addition?
