What if we made a "league" that is completely separate from ladle? Like potter said, it won't feel special if it isn't any different than a ladle.
Teams signup at the beginning and are given dates on when to play other teams. Then after all the matches are played, the top 4 or so teams make it into a "bowl" and the winner wins the season.
It would basically be a series of clan wars that mean something.

Re: Proposed Bowl Changes
I have a feeling we have tried this before soul...
But I think it might work.. We could actually run a very similar format to the World Cup..
Groups.
Wins and Losses.
Point Differential.
Points For and Points Against.
We could have a randomizer like we use for ladle. All the teams that want to partake in this lengthy event sign up. We have say 3 groups of 4 or 4 groups of 3. Teams can be picked to a group through the randomizer. Every team plays each team once or twice whichever we decide on. Then at the end of the group stage we go into a knockout stage. Sounds interesting. Maybe do it once a year?

Re: Proposed Bowl Changes
I was gonna bring this up, too. Why not just a short season once a year (3 months, still pretty long) with a bowl in the end. then the rest of the year is off-season (which is fine. ladle is still ladle).owned wrote:I like that the tournament is once every year, having it more often would make it less important to me. While there may be some problems with the length of the season, that could just be fixed by shortening the season instead of making two bowls in one year.
Coincidentally, it'd kinda be in proportion with the world cup, which is every 4th year. bowl season would be 25% of a year.
Re: Proposed Bowl Changes
I think that having 1 bowl a year is the best option, because so many teams won't make it, they would only get 10 ladles a year, unless the bowls are held on a not-ladle-day in which case I don't care.
Some of these ideas sound a lot like the AFL (from reading the two threads). Js

Re: Proposed Bowl Changes
Just to remind all of you, the reason Bowl is structured this way is because the commitment level here is very low. Jesus, some of you can't even stay in the same clan for 9 months, and you want a league? Who are you kidding? No, I'm sorry. There just are not enough committed players in this game. Concord proposed 3 month seasons because that is about the attention span of this community.
The other option is to break Ladle up into a league where each team plays against two or three others. At the end of the season, everyone plays on one bracket to decide who is the Bowl winner. Of course, no one wants to disrupt Ladle and two Fortress events cannot exist concurrently, so there you have it.

Bump
Are the plans still to do this in September, and are we going to go with these settings/rules/changes?sinewav wrote:I see no strong arguments against any of the changes and I am willing to execute his plan starting in September. If any of the new rules don't work as intended, we can change them later. We are a very flexible community. At this stage, I believe it is more important to take action now and make changes later.

Re: Proposed Bowl Changes
I really don't have time to keep up with the Bowl stuff right now. Someone else can take over if they want, though there doesn't seem to be much interest.Magi wrote:Are the plans still to do this in September, and are we going to go with these settings/rules/changes?
