Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
Btw, my apologies for the brackets being so huge. I'm really surprised I managed to make functional brackets in a language I knew nothing about to begin with, though.

Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
Sorry to butt in, but I have an interesting question (and this applies to most other tournaments as well): I see you randomized the servers for the first round, but what about the other rounds? For example, in the top half of the bracket, why was ID's chosen over CT's USA for the second round? Likewise, in the bottom half, why was CT's JOY chosen over CT's LIV? And, for the finals, why Empha #1 over ID's KS? The same question can be asked about the other server choices as well.
The answer could simply be that you randomized them, but I didn't see a link for proof which is why I was questioning.
Which brings me to my main point: I've noticed similar "random" (or are they?) servers for WST's, TST's, Cody's tourneys, and even Ladles. I mean, I remember when we first started randomizing Ladle servers, we tried to make it somewhat random, but ensure that as the rounds progressed, only the better/more reliable/more stable servers were being used.[/rant]

Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
It wasn't very random for the last rounds; I randomized for the first round and chose the ones i thought are most reliable and moved them on. Empha's for finals because it's the first sumo bar tournament and of course it should be in Empha's server then!
I don't mind you butting in at all (rather, I encourage it), since you raise a valid point. And I admit that the randomization this time was a little stressed and may seem unprofessional but the end result is OK in my opinion. I simply took the server I judged as the better/most reliable one and kept it for the next round.
As for ladle (46) server randomization (which I did that time) I first chose the top 4 US/EU servers, ranked them #1, #2 and #3/4. Then I started by filling in the #1 servers in the finals, used the !coin command in irc for all remaining "decisions", where heads means up and tails means down, and continued using !coin until they were all filled in (backwards from finals). I know that kyle has a plan of adding server randmomization to the !randomteam command so that all is done with one command (no need for !coin then, thank god, that took long), but I don't know how far he's come with it. I can't speak for the other tourneys at all. (PS. It'd be great if more people would show up in #armagetron the thursday before ladle, 17:45-18:00 GMT. 1 person is enough to do the wiki stuff but it'd feel much better if there were more opinions on server choices.)

Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
For the WST, I alternate US to Euro servers and alternate the finals with Euro to US every WST. I don't randomize the server.
Therefore, every round, the servers are alternating.
It makes the brackets more consistent.
BTW, I can't make this, I'll throw the first sub in my spot.
Sorry if I messed things up after the brackets were made because the first sub wants a Euro server.
I guess he will have to play in the US one.
Also, I will need those RINCLUDE's by tonight. I am leaving super early tmrw morning for work and if they aren't up by tonight, I will have to forfeit my server as well.
Sorry.

Just because I feel like annoying Titanoboa, I have to say: where are the RINCLUDEs?

Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
Don't server admins also need to edit out the "Player 1 got __ points for conquering Player 2's base" line from the language file?

Aw, I like being able to see who got how many points for what zone. It's only in the way if one is trying to be social.DDMJ wrote:Don't server admins also need to edit out the "Player 1 got __ points for conquering Player 2's base" line from the language file?

Re: Sumo Bar Tournament 1!
Well, the reason I took it out of my JUMBO Sumo server was that it caused a great deal of lag when 7+ conquer messages spammed the screen at once.

Titan, you should check out MB53's sumo server, he solved that problem pretty nicely.
