Re: Durka Durka Land
That would actually be awesome! However, I have a lot on my plate and don't quite know when I would be able to get around to that.compguygene wrote:Just a quick note, Durka. If you want to restart the DDL community, I have a server that I use strictly for forum hosting, and other similar things. I would be glad to give you the root pw, and setup an apache virtual server for the durkadurkaland.com domain, so you can easily pop a new durkadurkaland forum up. I really think that the server is very deserving of its own community, and would be happy to share my "forum" server with you, that way ddl traffic would never be affected by forum traffic, and you wouldn't have to use a free host, so better security.
On another note, if you read this, what's up with the MySQL DB on 216.59.3.120? I think it's broken so when I moved the TX forums I had to use a remote MySQL DB. The only problem with that is that the forums are ridiculously slow now :\/

Re: Durka Durka Land
I just say the exact same problem with the mysql config on the server i have setup for the forums, which is a very similar server to the one that you are using. Upon further research with some support tickets, internet searches, etc. It appears it may be a problem with the 64-bit libraries that the template that is used to build the Xen server is using.DDMJ wrote:That would actually be awesome! So, what I am doing, is working out what a better configuration would be for the server. I am experimenting with a couple different OS templates that were suggested to my on a support forum for MySQL. Of course, my plate has been rather full too, and I am finally getting around to running DLH's script on my 2 ladle servers, and doing an IP Check on the logs for my TSP_DE server, in regards to DrHouse, etc.
But, when I modeled the problems that you seem to be having (and I am too), I found that the configuration of the TX server is kinda broken, and the MYSQl config may be contributing "lag bombs" to your server. So, once I get the problem solved, I am thinking that it would be much wiser to rebuild the TX server, without any MySQL installation.
One thing that I have been experimenting with is using SQLlite instead of MySQL. You can convert any existing MySQL database to a SQLite database, and install phpbb3 to pick up the SQLite database. One reason I am looking at this as a superior solution, is this. To run MySQL takes up as much as 256 MB memory at times if you follow memory usage graphs. For a server that is running Armagetron, that is a terrible waste of memory. I found that my Armagetron servers function much better if they are installed on a VPS that has 1gb memory and no MySQL, or SQLite installed. At times, if you look at the memory usage graphs when a Ladle match is happening, you get memory spikes that really eat up as much as 256mb memory to 512mb memory, so if MySql is using 256mb memory, and a few other Armagetron Game Servers are running and have anybody in them, you get ping spikes that seem to be caused by Armagetron just not getting the memory that it really wants. Of course, as a practical matter, one Armagetron server with actual players in it can dominate the majority of available memory.
So, I really think that I can provide a better solution in the long term, especially if you move the TX forums off of the server that hosts the TX servers. That is the goal!

That was a great one with a good community around it. Would there be a

Durka's servers/Tx servers were hosted on Compguy's vps. When he lost it, Durka lost his servers.

Re: Durka Durka Land
Well, in the midst of the financial crunch of Christmas and some extra costs with expanding my business, I had to let go of several VPS's I was carrying for the time being. Eventually, when I again have the income to support it, I intend to get a couple dedicated servers. Including a dedicated server in Germany. So, unless somebody else offers space on a euro server for durka to use to host DDL, its not going to happen at this timel.
