Yes Phytotron we have all of those classes haha. Its just that I'm going to be loaded down with work next year due to a large amount of college level courses i'm taking. I thought why not get at least one easy course and see if I can chill on armagetron for an hour? Didn't mean for this to turn into an argumental thread though Oo. Just thought it was interesting that the school is considering it :goatee:

Edit: @Phytotron: We don't have current events, but other than that, we have a wide variety of actually useful courses. Sadly, most computer classes at my school are a joke :/ (other than commercial design and web programming)

I'm sorry, but are you role-playing here? Your profile doesn't say "chaotic neutral" anywhere, so it's safe to assume this is the real you (since Arma isn't a RPG).

I've talked to a lot of people in this game. Guess what? Their sense of humor, ability to cognize, verbalize, and all their idiosyncrasies shown in game and on the forums come through perfectly over IM, VoIP or in person. I have a friend that plays this game and he's much the same on the grid as in "real life." And another thing... This IS real life. Forums are a communication tool, that's all. You don't pass through a magic portal to an imaginary world when you login.

I'm sorry, I know it's not my place to say these things to you. But the "real life" thing is a pet peeve of mine.
Puh-lease. I've heard you on Mumble once during my time in Plus, and 2 times on the shoutcast, you're far nicer on there than you are on here. Here, you're seriously just as rude as I can be, and I wouldn't expect it listening to you with voice. Thats already a big difference.

But yeah, I guess judging mecca's forum posts and the fact that he thinks civics is bullshit totally means you know everything about his character.

Hey, lets judge Phytotron on his forum posts: grumpy old man who's never satisfied with anything, probably still a virgin because he pisses girls off with his nitpicking nature.

I can't be wrong because I've read his forum posts!

All your logic, all your logic.

Yeah, I understand the "real life" thing, I use that argument against my friends all the time :D

Phytotron has never talked to me on ventrilo or teamspeak, and has never spoken to me via IM. I act completely differently in a non-virtual setting (more like just not on tron).

I encourage both you and Phytotron to come on our teamspeak server once in a while and actually meet me.send me a PM on the forums if you want the info, not about to post it in public where certain people can see it (although I'm sure cloaket somehow already has the address).

For reference, I am developing a custom curriculum for my children... It is geared toward (complete) self-sufficiency so they could potentially live on their own without any other humans by age 12, followed by some specific vocational learning from 13-14. Obviously this is very much a rough draft still. :)

I wish I had had more of that type of stuff in my high school. Despite the fact that I hate history and all that stuff, I think by now I would have appreciated having it rammed down my throat as much as I wish it had.
kyle wrote:Also, armagetron has taught me quite a bit of things. PHP, python, Ruby, linux, and probaboly other things i can't think of right now. I'm not so sure it should be a class, but for sure an after school club/sport/activity.
I wouldn't say that Armagetron has taught me that directly, but it has been sort of a carrot to the proverbial stick in encouraging me to learn about PHP, etc. Probably the bit I've found the best is the experience of running the forums. There's a lot I've learned hanging around here.

It seems like my area is an oddity among US highschools. We are required to have 4 years of english and social studies and 3 of math and science.

heh that question always comes up in math class all the time. or "Where will I use this in real life?"
I thought that the point of learning all of these "useless" things was so you would have a choice of what field you wanted to study when you reached college. Of course knowing how to find the sine of 300º won't help you if you decide in college you want to become an actress, but if you happen to want to get a job that is related to math, that information would help you.

Ah I'm taking AP econ right now. It's not too hard of a class as long as you pay attention and read the book.

@kyle I have to take regular physics before I can take AP.
