But the majority of deathmatch/free-for-all/"LMS" servers have been individual multiplayer (er, or however one would put it) rather than team, and I would think that would be more appropriate. I was just noting that everyone automatically leaped to the assumption that any tournament would be teamplay. Conditioning from that fortress stuff, I suppose.
By the way, are you going to get distracted with this now? Weren't you going to be migrating servers to the new hosts today or hereabouts?
I did this while a process was running on the new dedicated server that takes about 25 minutes. I do still need to verify the proper setup of things before any migration takes place.
I did setup a Last Man Standing Tournament Test Server. It is setup in a small arena (SIZE_FACTOR -5). About 10 players total stopped in to check it out. I would like to get feedback from the community about the config. Here is the current config.

Because this thread was prompted by Vanhayes' post here.
Van-hayes wrote:I would love to play in a Team LMS tourney, the problem is that it would be hard to set one up since most if not all LMS server have different settings. If someone were to set one up with moderate to low rubber I would be down for it.
So, let's get rid of the whole high-rubber idea, eh? It's too bad the only popular LMS servers in Arma have insanely high rubber. You know what low rubber server rocks? That one in Moscow. Man I love it. It's not as extreme as Nexus9, but is still fun in the same way.
Like I said in the server, if you really want this to be unique then REALLY make it last man standing. Teams is last men standing, and every other tournament in tron is already team-based.
Would be great to have a big tourney with the default settings (Yes, cycle_speed 30) because I dunno if all of you went directly to internet games when you first started, but I started out in local, playing split-screen with friends, and it'd be fun to play all the big guns in that mode if only once.
8 players in a properly sized arena (size_factor -2?) and walls_length ~1000. No score limit, just a round limit.
Or is infinite tails possibly a better choice? I've never liked infinite tails.
Either only the top player, or the top 2~4 move on to the next round, whatever makes the tourney run as smooth as possible.
Well I only said teams because I prefer a team game to just everyone for themselves. I would be down for a true LMS tourney too, either way it could be fun. Having it be the default local settings would be cool. Just no "high rubber".
As a number of you have requested, for which vogue gets the credit for being the first, I have changed the settings to be single players, not teams. Here are the current settings:
This is the latest config, after some more refinement, of the Last Man Standing Tournament Testing Server. I am not taking it the directions that Phytotron and Titan have suggested. I know there will be tons of disagreement and distension about how I should make this. I have made this with a few ideas in mind. The majority of the players that will use this, and that have come into the server thus far, will be sumo/fortress players. As such, it does allow some double and triple binding, even though it is only has 3 rubber. I don't think double binding is so evil. Players who have played with me, while i tested it, have enjoyed the experience, and seem interested in a non-team tournament based around it. Here are the current settings, including an updated set of score settings. The score settings are based around the idea of 8 person match and a match ending after 5 rounds, or someone getting 30 points.
The point, I thought, was to make a standard, conventional "classic" server that would serve as a legitimate basis for a 'LMS' tournament, without any extreme or unusual settings (or relation to fortress et al). Oh well.
By the way, nothing I suggested had anything whatever to do with double or triple (or more) binding, and certainly doesn't disable it in any way.

Yep my impression is that most want a LMS tourney with the default settings.
Few things need to be tweaked to be tourney-friendly, such as for example the scoring, walls length and arena size.
Well, I have talked to players in the server, and plenty would like to do a tourney with these settings. However, it is clear that there is a demand for a LMS tourney with the local game settings as well. I would like to have the community run this like a ladle, as in self-organizing, etc. I think it would probably be the most fun for all involved to use a different LMS server, each time this happens. My thought is every other month, 3rd Sunday of the month.
