Ladle + TST?

Re: Ladle + TST?
Let's do it!
However I like the idea of doing 6v6... 3v3 in one circle and 3v3 in another circle.
This will add to the dynamic of the game. Maybe teams will think it will benefit them to send an attacker to the other circle? I dunno, I'm just thinking about ways to increase the strategy involved with it.
But definitely for sure! Maybe once we get Kings of the Grid up we can add points for winning this tournament as well as sumo knockout and random 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 sumo challenges.

Re: Ladle + TST?
How about something like this?
Re: Ladle + TST?
yes!
The teams should start on opposite ends
i.e.
A B
B A
That way there is some strategy in covering the back end before the other team can go and **** up your zone

Re: Ladle + TST?
Oh, you mean I should use my opponent's grind to slingshot myself into the adjacent zone? Hmm... Let me work on that map tomorrow.~*PsYkO*~ wrote:The teams should start on opposite ends
Re: Ladle + TST?
No not necessarily (If I am envisioning what you are thinking)...
See where you put the arrows on your map? that looks perfect just instead of having Team 1 start both circles from the north side and team 2 start both circles from the south side....Have the switched so one circle Team 1 starts from south side and team 1 starts from north side in the other circle

Re: Ladle + TST?
I'm not convinced that will make a whole lot of difference. Perhaps I still don't understand what you are asking. Can you draw a picture?~*PsYkO*~ wrote:Have the switched so one circle Team 1 starts from south side and team 1 starts from north side in the other circle

Re: Ladle + TST?
Great idea PsYkO, your enthusiasm is encouraging haha
in light of the recent 1 on 1 tourney, which was clearly a success, perhaps we should try and host this style competition in alternate months with each other 2 weeks after the ladle, so for example:
Jan
1st Sunday: Ladle
3rd Sunday: 1 on 1 tourney
Feb
1st Sunday: Ladle
3rd Sunday: TST style tourney
Mar
1st Sunday: Ladle
3rd Sunday: 1 on 1 tourney
Apr
1st Sunday: Ladle
3rd Sunday: TST style tourney
etc.
But we'll worry about that once we've tried it out. I'll PM you now psyko and if its cool we could get this organised, anyone else who wants to help out just say and we'll work things out together. If we aim to have this up and running ready for September 20th, sound good?

Re: Ladle + TST?
So, I guess it's just a matter of swapping the last two spawn points. I can do that. I still don't think it makes a significant difference, but I guess having another version of the map won't hurt anyone.newbie wrote:Code: Select all

This is however possible
Code: Select all

Re: Ladle + TST?
Why can't that work? We cannot code for it?epsy wrote:Can't worknewbie wrote:Code: Select all

Sine - If we get it up with the opposite teams and we play together, I will show you how it makes a big difference

Re: Ladle + TST?
Well if I remember correctly you can't split up where people spawn on a team, you can only change the distance between where teammates spawn from position 1, with the standard version of arma anyways. I think that someone told me CT+sty can do that though I'm not sure if that was spawn points or re-spawn points.
So basically right now you can only pick a main spawn point where pos. 1 spawns then set the distance which every teammate spawns away from them, i.e 1 grid on each side 1 grid back.
The only reason I know this because I wanted to split teams between 2 zones in fortress a while back and was told it is impossible right now.

You've gone too far, turn back!
Re: Ladle + TST?
Kyle talked about subspawns here which theoretically could do what you want. I've never used them, might be worth playing around with.Van-hayes wrote:I think that someone told me CT+sty can do that though I'm not sure if that was spawn points or re-spawn points.
Re: Ladle + TST?
hmmm.. so you can only shift teammates on the X axis, not the Z axis? or you can't change the direction that they begin driving. In fortress we are set up like a flying V which causes depth...Can we not use that code and exaggerate it to get what we are looking for?

I think this is done using the commands SPAWN_WINGMEN_BACK and SPAWN_WINGMEN_SIDE (right?). There is no way to change the orientation of the spawn point within the group.
Personally, I don't think we need to go hacking a new map and server to make an exciting game-type, especially one that combines two games that don't require hacks.
