I think the only way we can ever know the great players from the above-average players is through tournaments. That would prove a player's consistency in scoring as well as in other areas.

The match wins and ladder scores during single players games clearly mean nothing. A person can have many match wins b/c they have played a long time and play all the time. Even if the worst player plays long enough, they'll accumiliate match wins. A person can have a high ladder score through stat-whoring.

Tournament play minimizes these problems. During one large match, you clearly see one player standing out in the group. We held one tournament with very established players in it, and so far n54 stood out from the group.

Yes, but many players must know about it! http://www.armagetrontournament.tk/ to signup! Once we get a lot of people, we'll build real teams...

hehe, since i qualify to that description ("insomniac") i can testify that i haven't seen any such so far. not that i often play elsewhere, but the few times i do (sometimes one just feels like getting lower ping you know) i usually see "shockwaves" from armagoshdarn tactics... i think armagoshdarn probably has reached another level of gameplay compared to most other servers (but maybe all players think that of their favourite server :D)

btw, at least in my case, changing playing style/reaction times to suit the settings of another server can take as much as a day of playing (at worst), and usually less time back to armagoshdarn.

Not in any certain order

Toad - semi retired?, don't see em too often any more, he got bit by the big ping bug.
war monkey - when he's not choppen wood
Blind Man - well he's the Blind Man, LOL

I listed these cause I'm a sedimental bastard, (who can't spell).

There are several skilled players, whom I've ground my hub caps down to the nubs, on their walls. Someone (not necessarily someone) win the lottery, fly us all in, play on a lan and serve us beer, then we will see.

Play for fun and you will win every time. :D

Just a heads up people - there may be random "crocatiel" sightings.

Don't ask...lol. If you really want to know, do a search on the forums for crocatiel.

is it coincidence that you just scored the most points in the tournament game? ;)

i dunno what my top three at the moment is.. but in my all time top three i do think Digital Logic would be in it, even though he might not be up to par with the likes of n54 and commie nowadays.

Top 3 or so:

 N54
Very consistant, also one of the few players not to have changed his name in 6 months :P

:?: TMR (if he still plays (?))
Great personality, seems like he stopped playing though - or switched names and has yet to reveal his true identity :P

:P Subby
Crazy guy - very hard to predict where he plans on going because of his oft erratic behaviour!

:!: Sel
Friendly - despite being extremely good - he does not take the game too seriously and encourages people to have fun! :D

8) Marrow
I am pretty sure that this guy is just trying to be someone he was never born to be! I look foward to exposing him as the invalid he really is at some point! :P

I don't know about top 3 players. Comparing players between servers is hard, since different servers have different rules. A top player on nixda won't necessarily be great on goshdarn and vice versa. Also, some people play better depending on who else is (or isn't) on the server at the time.

On Armagoshdarn, where I play the most, the 3 players who I most respect and fear (meaning, they seem to kill me a lot) are:

Commie
Yaza
Froot
